Baylor is from St. Louis, Missouri, and was previously the drummer for The Yellowjackets. Jean Baylor was previously a member of R&B group Zhané.

In 1989 this Bronx native, founded the first Black Owned Comedy Club on the East Coast called The Uptown Comedy Club. After a successful stint in Harlem, he produced a Nationally Syndicated TV show of the same name. He trained and launched the careers of many of today's hottest urban comedians; like Tracy Morgan, JB Smoove, and Flex Alexander. Along with having his own successful career as a regular cast member on the TV Show “ ”, where he portrayed the lovable character of “Dotcom” for 7 seasons. He is now excited to introduce his Spoken Word catalog in honor of and Black Excellence.
