You have to visit this snake farm, if you like snakes 👀👀 🐍

Opened to the public in the year 1923, the snake farm in Bangkok, part of the Thai Red Cross Institute has large pits and mesh enclosures to host its reptile residents. 🐍 Also called “Suan Nguu”, the snake farm hosts a variety of venomous and non-venomous snakes. It’s the second oldest such snake farm in the world after a snake farm in Sao Paolo, Brazil. 🤩

The Snake Farm functions on ethical grounds of respecting snakes as an essential part of our ecology. The snakes here are left to their own devices in their new habitats. The handlers and caretakers here are well-trained in handling the reptiles. They deal with many types of snakes like rainbow snakes, green tree snakes, and even the dangerous striped branded krait every day.

Make sure to check out the show, and the opportunity to make a photos with a snake after the show! 🤳

Visit the boat temple!? 🌊 🛶

Built in the 19th century, Wat Yanawa as it’s officially known, is one of Bangkok’s oldest temples – and, yes, it’s shaped like a boat. 🚤

Apparently, King Rama III, who was ruling Thailand when the temple was built, said that it should be boat-shaped in honour of the foreign ships helping Bangkok prosper. 💰

💰 Free entrance!

🕚 Open everyday from 8:30 to 5pm (Saturday and Sunday until 6pm)

📍 Wat Yannawa is located at 40 Charoen Krung Road just a short walk from Saphan Taksin BTS so you can quickly nip there before getting a boat up the river.

The relaxing younger brother of Khaosan Road 😎🍻

Situated adjacent to the hectic Khaosan Road, Soi Rambuttri is like its quieter younger brother – but it isn’t any less fun.

Whether you’re heading there to get away from Khaosan Road or working your way towards it, Soi Rambuttri has a number quality bars for you to enjoy the night!

Grab a seat and enjoy the outdoors at one of the great (little street) bars, serving beers and nice cocktails. 🍺 🍹

Wanna go classy? Streats is a classy venue in which to enjoy an appetising and well-presented cocktail. It might not have the same rep as the notorious street beside it, but it’s not far off.

You have to check out the Sathorn Ghost Tower!

Started in the 1990s when Asia was booming, the 49-storey tower, officially called the Sathorn Unique building, was built as apartments, but when the baht crashed in 1997, the developers just walked away. It now towers over the city all empty and spooky.

Most locals steer clear of the place, not least because a number of bodies have been found there (including of at least one tourist) which adds to its scary image and new name of the Ghost Tower.

If you like urban exploring though rumour has that, a small fee (500 baht a person) paid to one of the security guards might allow you access. Technically this is completely illegal, the building is falling to pieces and so, if you do go in you could add to the body count, but a quick google will give you the tips you need.

Khao San Road; this is where party never stops 🎉 💃🏼

Khao San Road is Bangkok's infamous backpacker and tourist district, a neighborhood jam-packed with hostels, street food vendors, t-shirt stalls, and travelers from every corner of the globe. 🌎

This is where you can pick up a few pairs of baggy fisherman pants and sample cheap and delicious thai street food. Perhaps some coconut ice cream to cool you down or if you are feeling adventurous you can try scorpion skewers here!🤔🤤

Most importantly, party atmosphere here is great. There are always something happening. From non stop nightclub to live bands, sh**ha pipes, jazz bars, the only difficulty you have is to choose the nightlife you want. 🎶

🗺 How to get there?
Take the BTS sky train to National Stadium, that’s the closest stop to Khao San Road. From there it’s a 4km/50 minute hot, sweaty walk. Or you can take a tuk-tuk/taxi from outside the station.

This must be the oldest soup in the world!! 🤤

There’s a myth that says the longer a wok hasn’t been washed, the tastier the food. Now that might sound unhygienic and very, very suspicious… But wait till you get a load of this!

Since Wattana Panich (วัฒนาพานิช เนื้อตุ๋น) first opened almost 60 years ago, this local street food stall in Bangkok has saved their soup every night instead of throwing it away. You might think that it sounds disgusting or downright weird, but it’s actually an ancient Chinese technique for creating complex and ultra flavourful dishes!

💰 Price: From 50-200 Baht

This is one of the students favourite bar! 🍻 🍹

Chilling House Cafe has been a mainstay at Coco Walk for over a decade. Decked in warm, yellow tones, the decor makes goos use of materials like wood, marble, and copper. The long alabaster bar counter glows from LED lights installed inside. The venue is divided into three areas: the stage side indoor, the restroom side indoor, and the uber-chill outdoor seatings.

The bar books live bands every night, playing Thai and international hits. The genres change as the night goes on. In the early evening, you can enjoy folk, jazz, and some easy-listening. After that, expect faster, more energetic beats.

The cafe is well known for its value for money Thai dishes, amazing vibes and even better drinks! The cafe is busy every night, mainly with youngsters like us and local students.

A beer will set you back 110up baht, and a house spirit mix is only 120 baht! Guaranteed an good night! 😏🍻

An airplane graveyard in Bangkok?? 🧐🧐

Next to an autonomy shop, off of Ramkhamhaeng Road in Bangkok, an abandoned 747 and two smaller MD-82 planes sit derelict and lying in pieces. Besides the oddity of seeing huge planes lying by the side of the road, you also happen to be looking at a makeshift home.
Junked planes seems to have occupied the yard since at least January of 2010, being first reported as the nose sections of two Boeing 747s. In January of 2014 two MD-82 jetliners formerly operated by Orient Thai Airlines were added. (The MD-82 model was involved in a fatal 89 person crash at Phuket International Airport in 2007 which may explain why there were being scrapped.) By 2015 a 747 had been added as well as another more unusual addition. Three Thai families had made moved in turning the airplanes into their makeshift homes.

Said to be owned by a local businessman who has been selling off parts of the airplanes for scrap, the planes have been stripped of seats, interior paneling, TV sets, and overhead compartments. Flight magazines, oxygen masks, and life vests litter the grounds and interiors. The families who live in the scrap planes have done what they can to make it homey and added and decorated the interiors.

The families that live there say it’s much better than living on the street, and that they can earn money both by bringing found items to a nearby recycling station and by charging an entry fee to tourists curious to visit the planes. The fee is not fixed and varies over time and reports range from 100 to 800 baht per person. Should you visit respect the locals and leave everything in its original state.

📍Know Before You Go
The easiest way to get to the Airplane Graveyward is to take the canal taxi that plies Klong Saen Saep. Take an eastbound boat to the last stop, which is Wat Sriboonruang on Ramkamhaeng Soi 107. From there, walk to the main road, turn right, and walk two blocks. The Airplane Graveyard is at Soi 103. Go early to avoid the sauna-like cockpits, and be prepared to pay an ever-changing admission fee of 100 to 800 baht per person.

Yeah! This popular night market is back! 🤤

At the end of last year the popular Ratchada Train Night Market has officially returned under a brand new name ‘Jodd Fairs’ and has relocated from Ratchada to Rama 9 which is more convenient for all of us to pay a visit!

Luckily the market still retains its original vibe of nightlife shopping and street food hawkers that we’re all familiar with. The market also features a new skating landmark where all skaters can show off and exchange their urban ‘surfing’ skills.

Jodd Fair offers more than 600 food vendors ranging from restaurants, street food stands and actual food tents. Take a night stroll along the many stalls and take your pick from dishes like Mala BBQ skewers and grilled beef steaks freshly made to order.

In addition to the street food stalls with BBQ pork and chicken skewers or chargrilled steaks, there are also trailer cafes and other outdoor hawker stalls where visitors can hang out with friends and bask in the nightlife.

How can we not kick of with this famous palace? A must see in Bangkok!

The Grand Palace (or Royal Palace) is the most visited tourist site in Bangkok and one of the must see attractions during a trip to Thailand!

Built in 1782, the year when Bangkok officially became the capital of the country after the fall of the Ayutthaya and Thonburi kingdom, the complex includes more than 100 buildings, palaces, and pavilions.

The sovereigns of Thailand lived there for many years in the past, but today the King only goes there for official ceremonies.

During your visit to the Grand Palace in Bangkok, don’t miss the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, a royal chapel. In the chapel, you can admire a jade statue of Buddha found in 1434 in Chiang Rai (in the north of Thailand). This statue is revered by all Thai people.

Please keep in mind that you have to dress appropriately, so no shorts and women have to be fully covered as well!

Entrance fee; 500 baht
