E for Eustomas

Another one of my favorite flowers. I have use them in my works quite often in fact... They comes in many colours and they bloom beautifully! They are also pretty lasting! Check out the ice cream cone in violet hues..its one of my proudest creation!

D for Dusty millers (银叶菊）
Ok dusty miller is not a flower but a foliage... But still...i use them in my works!
I first came across this in my florist class and 冰山雪莲 is the first words that comes to my mind.😆 If you think green leaves is too cliche, you might want to try this for a different feel! The leaves are covered with fine hairs and gives it a woolly winter feel. I use them in my bloom boxes cos they acts as a good contrast with my marble colour box and stand pop up nicely in the arrangement! But one thing about dusty miller is they doesn't last long and they are quite costly to get.

C for Carnation.

Dianthus caryophyllus, commonly known as the carnation or clove pink, is a species of Dianthus. It is probably native to the Mediterranean region but its exact range is unknown due to extensive cultivation for the last 2,000 years. Wikipedia

Carnations generally carry the meaning of “a woman’s love”, and perhaps this is why they are the most popular flowers on Mother’s Day. However, their exact meanings depend on their color, for example red carnations signify love and affections while white carnations signify purity and luck. (Quoted from Far East Flora)

Most of us will usually associate Carnations with Mother's day or teacher's day. Actually this flower can be used for any events, just pick the right colour! I have been using carnation sprays in my ice cream cone bouquets cos they resembles piped cream the most.... The creamy fluffy look cant be better achieved with other flowers in my opinion. The bright red and orange ones used for CNY table arrangement gives a extra boost of 福气满满， a good replacement for the peony since it's not easy to get them in Singapore. This flower is also a very easy to work with flower in bouquets cos the head doesnt turn like some "difficult to work with" flowers 😂 not forgetting to mention, they are quite long lasting and resilient if you place them in the right place ! The one i have for cny lasted for 2 weeks and still looking good!

So yesterday i did a "A for Alstroemeria” i will be doing "B for Baby breath" (gypsophila) today.

Known as Gypsophila family, Baby's Breath derived its name from the kind of soil it thrives on. The soil is found to be high in gypsum which is a kind of mineral that makes the soil thick and heavy. Originally, the flowers were found in Eurasia, Africa, and Australia.

Baby's breath is blooming with symbolism. Most commonly, this flower is a symbol of everlasting love—which is one reason why it's a popular wedding flower. Baby's breath also represents innocence, which makes it a lovely gesture to include in baby shower gifts and gifts for new mothers. (Info source from google search)

Baby breath are not just long lasting its also very versatile! You can pair them with anything or even nothing at all! And they look good whether its fresh or dried and it gives a very romantic feel... (滿天星星you know??)
I havent been using much baby breath in my works so far cos i have been exploring different foliages but they really comes in good use in my ice cream cones like a solero burst!

I decided to do a " a flower a day" series... (Or maybe a week) see how many i can come up with ...and showing my previous works using the featured flower type. In this way you have a better idea of the flowers and know what you want for next gifting or getting them for yourselves!

I will start off with one of my favorite...the alstroemeria, the " Peruvian Lily"

"The Alstroemeria has a host of spiritual interpretations, from devotion and friendship to the achievement of aspirations; making it the perfect good luck gift or token of companionship."

Looking alike lilies but much petite in size, serve as a beautiful filler in bouquets and have a layering effect. I have paired them with gerbera and hydrangea, spot them!
