Gwyneth Murdock
It was with great sorrow that we learnt of the death of our friend, colleague and often mentor, Gwyneth Murdock on Thursday evening, 17th October.
Gwyneth was a shining beacon whose legacy will be seen in many places for a very long time – on the stage and screen through a multitude of students who, through her tutelage, care and encouragement, became professional actors but also through all of those who gained the ability and confidence to speak publicly required for a myriad of careers in both their public and private lives. Her advice, her listening ear, her support touched and changed so many.
The Belfast Musical Festival of Music, Speech and Drama is indebted to Gwyneth for her talent and the talent she nurtured in her students - children, youth and adults alike. We will remember the powerful productions she brought to festival, the monologues, duologues and acted scenes and we are much saddened by the fact that so many will not have the opportunity to learn from this fabulous teacher.
The colours of the world have faded at her passing. We send our most heartfelt sympathies to her daughters Ollie and Paddi, to her grandchildren and to all of her extended family. We will miss her greatly but feel privileged to have known her.
