Day 10 (23 Dec 2024): We received an exciting call from Azim via satellite phone – the team has successfully reached EVEREST BASE CAMP! Alhamdulillah, and heartfelt congratulations to everyone on this incredible achievement!

Day 8 (21 Dec 2024): Today, we completed our acclimatization hike, reaching an altitude of 4,700m before returning to our lodge for a well-deserved rest. The weather is noticeably colder now, but our spirits remain high as we press on with our journey.

Day 7 (20 Dec 2024): The team continued the trek to Dingboche (4,410m), where the real challenges of high altitude began to set in. Despite the difficulties, we pushed through with the unwavering support of our teammates. We will spend the next two days here for acclimatization.

Day 6 (19 Dec 2024): The team continued our journey to Debuche (3,820m). Along the way, we were blessed with clear weather, allowing us to marvel at the stunning mountain scenery. Alhamdulillah, we even caught a glimpse of the majestic peak of Mount Everest.

Day 5 (18 Dec 2024): Today is an acclimatization day. The team went on a short hike before returning to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) for some well-deserved rest. It was a relaxing day, made even more special by Dr. Jastini and Murfiqah, who prepared a delicious meal of *daging salai* brought all the way from Malaysia. The flavorful dish truly lifted everyone's spirits!

Day 4 (17 Dec 2024): Today, the team will continue their trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), one of the largest village in the Everest region.

Day 3 (16 Dec 2024): The team has safely arrived in Lukla (2,860m) and commenced their trek to Phakding (2,610m). They are now enjoying dinner and resting well in preparation for tomorrow's journey.

Today, our team embarks on an exciting journey, flying to one of the world's most challenging airports—Tenzing Hillary Airport, better known as Lukla Airport. The team has arrived at the airport and is eagerly awaiting their flight. Let’s pray for clear skies and the safety of everyone as they take this crucial step towards Everest Base Camp.

Day 1: Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu
The day has finally arrived! Our team, consisting of 4 staff members and 4 students from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), embarks on an incredible 15-day journey to Everest Base Camp, from 14 to 28 December 2024.

We are deeply honored and grateful to DYAM Tunku Mahkota Kedah and DYAM Tunku Puan Mahkota Kedah for graciously spending their valuable time to send off our team at KLIA Terminal 1 this morning. Your support means the world to us as we take the first step of this unforgettable adventure.

"Beyond the Summit: Tales of Adventure and Resilience" was an unforgettable event, held at EIGER Adventure in Ampang on October 12, 2024, featuring Azim Afif and Tendi Sherpa. Both of us were invited to share our experiences and the incredible journeys we've had in the world of mountaineering.

The evening was a truly special one, as we gathered with fellow outdoor enthusiasts and friends, exchanging stories of adventure, perseverance, and the lessons we’ve learned from the mountains. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and excitement, as everyone there shared a deep passion for the outdoors.

It was more than just an event—it was a celebration of our love for exploration and a chance to inspire others with the stories of our triumphs and challenges faced on the world’s highest peaks.

Last week was a blast, filled with new knowledge, meeting new acquaintances, and gaining interesting experiences. I had the opportunity to invite Tendi Sherpa to Malaysia, his first visit after six years. It's not easy to get time with Tendi, as he is always busy with mountain activities. He had just completed an expedition to Mount Manaslu (the eighth-highest mountain in the world) a week before arriving in Malaysia.

We were invited by UNDP in conjunction with World Tourism Day, themed “Tourism and Peace: Rebuilding Tourism Resilience & Readiness Through Sustainable Tourism,” held in Putrajaya.

The two-day program was packed with valuable insights from highly respected speakers. Our session on October 10th was titled "Achieving Sustainable Mountain Management," featuring a distinguished panel: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Rafee Baharudin from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia; Ms. Zela Azni Nahizan from Messrs Bodi, Chan & Partners and a representative of Malaysia’s Forestry Mountain Guide; and moderated by Ms. Maulita Sari Hani, Senior Project Specialist for the Tourism for Rural Development Programme at the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).

This program highlighted how tourism can contribute to economic stability, social inclusion, environmental protection, and cultural exchange. We can also embrace the "mantra" from Malaysia's National Ecotourism Plan 2016-2025: "Tourism protects, preserves, and conserves nature, culture, and heritage."
