One whole month of these guys ♾️
Tara and Jake were like sunshine from the moment I met them… Two of the warmest souls whose only request was for a simple ceremony surrounded by their closest people 🫶🏻 … and on the 3.5.25 (which just so happened to be a perfect Autumn afternoon) Tara and Jake did just that.
Sharing simple vows, exchanging wedding rings and sealing it all with a long hug, a sweet little kiss (and a glass of champagne of course 🥂).

As their goal was to create a relaxed ceremony, Tara and Jake made a few simple choices that added to the laid back vibe of their day:

⭐️ They created an acoustic playlist of their favourite songs to play as their guests arrived 🎶. This set the tone and got everyone in the mood for their simple and beautiful ceremony.
⭐️ They didn’t set strict ground rules or have a long list of housekeeping reminders for guests to follow. Their goal was just for guests to feel welcomed and celebrated alongside of them.
⭐️ They chose not to have a bridal party, but instead incorporated some of their favourite people into their day in other ways (using them as witnesses, holding Tara’s flowers during the ceremony etc).
⭐️They opted for simple legal vows only.
⭐️ Instead of doing the traditional signing of certificates during the ceremony, Tara and Jake opted to do this after the formal ceremony was over. As the sun went down, with a glass of champagne in hand, they signed on the dotted line as all of their closet people chatted and mingled around them.
⭐️ My favourite part was that despite any expectations of how guests may have thought Tara and Jake’s ceremony should go, they did what felt authentic to them and what made them feel most at ease. Weddings don’t have to be something that pushes you out of your comfort zone or forces you to fit a mould. It’s so important to celebrate in a way that feels uniquely you, and Tara and Jake did just that 🫶🏻

One of the most fulfilling parts of being a celebrant is when previous clients invite me back to be part of another important milestone in their lives 🫶🏻
I first met Kayla & Kyle back in 2022 when I had the honour of officiating their baby boys naming ceremony 🩵 Fast forward to the 04.04.2025 and I had the pleasure of standing with them again as they became husband & wife.

The biggest full circle moment was watching their gorgeous (now 2 year old) son Isaiah walk down the aisle with his mummy, and hearing the beautiful vows his parents not only made to one another but also to him 🤍

It’s in these moments I am reminded that I am one LUCKY celebrant 🫶🏻

One year today for Mr & Mrs Jackson 🤍
“Chloe and Bryce find happiness just enjoying the simple things in life- spending time together in the comfort of their home, reading or gaming; with Minnie 🐶 and Winston 🐶 knever too far away. They find pleasure in the weirdest of things, such as staying up late to read the entire script of Ron Howard’s 2000 feature film ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’… with Chloe attempting to act out the characters voices, only for Bryce to take over with his stellar Grinch impressions. You’ll often find them quoting their favourite shows, movies or video games, to the point where they crack each other up, whilst it makes absolutely no sense to anyone around them… As Chloe and Bryce beautifully worded it, they are each other’s best friend and simply just love spending their time together… I’m pretty sure that’s what its all about”

Rituals during a wedding ceremony add an important layer of meaning, symbolism and community; and I get very excited when my couples ask to include significant rituals that keep their family traditions alive 🫶🏻

Recently, Pip and Dan chose to incorporate the korowai (which is a traditional cloak used in Māori culture) into their ceremony. The korowai represents the joining of two families as well as symbolizing the groom’s love and protection for his bride 🤍
Such beautiful meaning 🤍

If you are considering including a nod to your heritage into your ceremony in the form of a unique ritual I would lean into it just as Pip and Dan did- you won’t regret it!
