Last week we were able to host the University of Louisville Family Business Center.

The keynote speaker was Jane Grote Abell Executive Chairwoman and Chief Purpose Officer for Donato’s Pizza. She spoke on Agape Capitalism and how Leading with Love has been the motto of their multi-million dollar family business since its founding!

Big thanks to Candace Bensel, Kristen Frarey and the U of L team for bringing this amazing event to CityPlace!

Last week we got to host the North Oldham Middle School Professional Development retreat.

Grab your boogie shoes and join us for this not to be missed fundraising event. Proceeds benefit the Be Like Griff Foundation. This young nonprofit was founded to honor the memory of Daniel Lee Griffith (Griff) who was killed in an automobile accident in December of 2021. Griff was an Army Veteran who served 3 combat tours in Afghanistan and received numerous commendations during his military career. Post-military he returned home to Oldham County where he devoted his time to helping Veterans and their families. At the Disco you will receive a pair of headphones and you can choose from 3 different channels of music. Pick your favorite and turn it up as loud as you want. It's hysterical to remove your headphones and see everyone in the room dancing, but you don't hear anything. There will also be a Costume Contest for Best Disco Dancewear, Appetizers and Photo Opportunities. It's a family friendly event too. Get tickets at Eventbrite. $15 for single or $25 for two. Come and groove for a great cause!

This year, they're bringing in their first-ever Kid-Owned Business Expo, Treasure Tank, and a plethora of other delightful activities to entertain the kiddos. The cherry on top? Admission is absolutely FREE! Donations will be accepted for Operation Parent. So, mark your calendars and kick-off your summer in style by attending Family Fun Fest!

Do you own a business? Do you walk dogs, bake cookies, paint art, pet sit, baby sit, or have another creative way to make money? If you answered yes, then we need you to join us for our first ever Kid-Owned Business Expo at CityPlace.

Kid-entrepreneurs will present their businesses to a panel of Treasure Hunters –local business representatives who are sponsoring the event. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top scoring kid-businesses. Title Sponsor is University of Louisville Family Business Center. Panelists also include representatives from German American Bank, Oldham Financial Solutions, Oldham County Chamber, Caldwell Tanks and Orphan Care Alliance. Saturday, April 22nd 1:00pm- 2:00pm will be hosting the Fashion Council of Louisville, led by Fashion Expert Jo Ross.

This is a Runway Fashion Show to benefit WaterStep. Fashion Council is a year-long program that teaches modeling, including runway, photographic and freeze modeling but also teaches professional etiquette, how to Present Yourself and social responsibility. The teens that make up Fashion Council are using the Show as a way to raise money to provide clean water by purchasing the equipment to benefit a community in another part of the world.

We will host our own “Treasure Tank” where kid-entrepreneurs will present their businesses to a panel of “Treasure Hunters”

With several local business representatives sponsoring the event, they will be awarding cash prizes to the winning businesses. ($1,000 in prizes 😱)

We look forward to welcoming back the Celebration of Women event on March 23rd!

This is hosted by the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce. The theme is Game Changers and will feature a panel discussion of 4 local nonprofits all led by women. The panel will include Janet Warren, Hope Health Clinic. Amee D’Amico, HighPoint Charitable Services. Laura Tapp, Crossroads Pregnancy Resource Center. Jean Schumm, Operation Parent.

The event will also feature tablescapes decorated and sponsored by local companies and organizations.

This popular event is put on by the Main Street Program. 500 tickets are sold. Participating locations will provide unique and delicious chocolate treats for all of those on the “Crawl”.

Every year associates of The Rawlings Company have a special opportunity to give back to help families in need. This year Rawlings associates took part in a project which included wrapping and delivering gifts to benefit 336 children. Christmas spirit is on overload around here as volunteers come and go throughout the week. We, at CityPlace, love being a small part of this project that spreads Christmas joy to so many. Thanks team Rawlings for reminding us what Christmas is all about!
