Love this photograph ☂️💙

Today we remember filmmaker David Lynch. He established himself as one of the most original and controversial directors of his generation with movies like “The Elephant Man” (1980) and “Blue Velvet” (1986).⁣⁣
⁣⁣
His work was characterized by eccentric characters, eerie settings, and dreamlike—often nightmarish—sequences. He probed the dark underside of small-town America as well as the country’s urban centers, creating films whose visual appearance and narrative structure challenged established conventions.

His television show “Twin Peaks,” which aired on ABC from 1990 to 1991, received fourteen Emmy nominations during its run.⁣⁣ Lynch received an honorary Academy Award in 2019.

This portrait, taken by British photographer Richard Ansett atop the Dorchester Hotel in London, alludes to Lynch’s surrealist tendencies. ⁣⁣
