My business isn’t about video or photography. It’s about people.
It's not about transactions, it’s about relationships and networking.
And, it's not about just one day working together, it's about a lifetime of work together.
Here's a very recent example.
I posted some photos from an older Fall Family Photo session the other day on here. It was during that shoot that I had the pleasure of meeting Jo and Max, only the coolest mother and son duo ever. The session was at a Lititz Springs Park, so Max could run freely while Jo and I struck up a conversation to loosen up before taking any photos.
During our talk Jo told me about an organization she is closely involved with called Scoop of Hope. I heard the word ice cream mentioned and I was all ears, but what I found out is Scoop of Hope is so much more than ice cream. To be clear, A Scoop Of Hope is a not-for-profit foundation providing backpacks for rehab, recovery, or people experiencing homelessness.
I've personally struggled with addiction and at times homelessness in my life so their mission resonates with me deeply. That's another story for another time. The point remains, there was something bigger at play and I don’t think meeting Jo that day was a coincidence.
I asked Jo if there was any way I could help or get involved. She told me more info about the ice cream social event they host every year. She said it could be a opportunity to take some photos.
Fast forward to that summer’s ice cream social. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend the event as I had a wedding pre-scheduled. However, I did not lose connection with Jo.
We’ve kept in touch over the years and turns out she's a fellow photographer too! She has seriously mad skills! Then one day, whatever force was at play created an opportunity for me to help Jo and the Scoop of Hope organization.
They had a 5k Halloween event vast approaching and their photographer had bailed out. I was available this time so of course I took that opportunity. The photos in this post are from the event!
I was so fortunate to meet all the family and friends behind Scoop of Hope and I already know some of these will be relationships I have for a lifetime.
Because it was much deeper than just the photos or videos. It was about the people.
For that, I want to give a Big Shout out to Jo, Max, Alana, Nicole, all of Mike’s immediate family, and the entire Scoop of Hope organization! The work you do saves lives and I love all of you so much for that! I look forward to working with you guys again!
(PS Jo is the one with her hands up coming across the finish line. You can see her biggest fan cheering her on from the sideline)
