In the magic world, there is a different meaning to 'Valentines Card'.

During July 1916, Richard 'Valentine' Pitchford was blown up by a bomb during battle, unconscious for 6 weeks before waking up in a Southampton hospital and undergoing prolonged rehabilitation during which he practiced card magic. He later became known all over the world as 'The Great Cardini'.

These cards and other items from his world famous manupulative magic act remain in the archive of The Magic Circle.

TBT to 2021 when I hosted The Magic Circle Christmas Show, a annual festive tradition in London for over 50 years... and James Corden came with his family and stayed around afterwards to say 'Hi'. What a day!

This incredible photo 'Aurora Borealis over Brighton Seafront' was taken by as their entry to the ASTRONOMY PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR ' Aurorae' category!!! ✨The single biggest astrophotography competition in the world, run by the Royal Museums Greenwich.

You can visit the gallery of all of the images which are available to see in the National Maritime Museum (near the Greenwich Observatory), open daily 10am-5pm with free entry.

In the middle of this photo, at the bottom of the tower, is Regency Square. This is where the will be based during the Brighton Fringe Festival, and my new show 'Astonishing Illusions' will be running over the May Bank Holiday. Visit www.dannyleegrew.com for more details.

This weekend, I visited St Botolph's priory for the first time whilst in Colchester Town Centre.

Founded about 1100, St Botolph's was one of the first Augustinian priories in England .

An impressive example of early Norman architecture, built in flint and reused Roman brick, the church displays massive circular pillars, round arches and an elaborate west front.

It was badly damaged by cannon fire during the Civil War siege of 1648.

Within are tombs of:
- Dr Nunn - Colchester Hospital's first Doctor.
- William Hawkins - MP and builder of railway, connecting Colchester to the surrounding areas.
- Family tomb of Captain Jesse Jones - veteran of the Battle of Waterloo.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but I need your help. I have dedicated some time during my busy schedule to prepare for the Colchester Half Marathon 2025, and hoping to raise money and support for the British Heart Foundation.

The event takes place on Sunday 16th March, and below you can find the link to support me by donating to my chosen charity.

The British Heart Foundation has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can. Thank you!
