magic is everywhere in this world - sometimes we find it in pages and other times we seek it out

2023 was the year we started fantasy events and it was during a time when the trend had just started, that companies were only just announcing events for 2024 & 2025 and we hosted one then. A lot has changed since then - in this community, in the expectations for what these events should be, in casting and character standards, in what the “main character” moment is, in the guests experience and more. BTB is stepping back into what made our event what it was: passion and true love of telling a story.

Re-joining social media slowly after about a month long detox - there are hundreds of DM’s that will be gone through slowly

Calan Mai is a 100% secured event with venue, vendors (authors, merch, artists, etc.) secured! Tickets went back on sale at the start of September!

Updates:
- content will be scheduled an entire month out and become more consistent again (however engagement within that comment, DM’s, sharing will be limited)
- family has been through it - coming off a family loss and was in a car accident hit by a buck so it’s been on e thing after another lately
- remaining auntie and vendors announcements coming
- I would like to publicly apologize to anyone that I have let down in my absence. More efforts will be made to do and be better. To listen more than I speak, to continue to learn and grow in this community, and to value every element of it and respect everyone.

✨Original Character Contest✨

Interpret this HOWEVER you like. BUT, no, it isn’t limited to cosplay: this is open to artist, musicians, dancers, actors, cosplayers and more.

For example, you could create your character and showcase it through ANY MEDIUM. There is no limit to your creativity. We just ask that you tell the story in the caption as well and showcasing whatever you create.

Be sure to check out the rules but know that there is A LOT of room for your to interpret and create as YOU see fit and in whatever format YOU are most comfortable with.

Collaboration is encouraged but the creator that posts will be considered the submission.

ADDITIONALLY the winner will have the option to have a special highlight and feature at Calan Mai: whether an artist showcasing your piece, a dancer performing or cosplayers original character added into the event. This would be decided with the winning created and determined based off of their needs.

Words cannot express how excited and proud BTB is to see this shoot in print. To know that not only hard work is recognized but that of these beautiful, inspiring and insanely talented women as well. This would not have been possible without an amazing team, but especially grateful for whose venue is just ✨magical✨, who brings every vision BTB has to life through stunning 🌸florals🌸, and of course the photographer behind these works of 📸art📸

Beyond grateful for the entire shoot team, all the models, cosplayers, artists, and more for bringing this to life!

Don’t worry this isn’t the last feature that you’ll see - BTB already been told about several more publications that will be coming out soon and is beyond excited to celebrate each and every one of them.

📚: author announcements begin in August
🧝‍♀️: not only do we have an amazing cast of characters but ALL cosplay is highly encouraged AND there will be a cosplay contest!
🎙️: come meeet some amazing voice actors and actresses
🎨: excited to say we will have a mix of artist from live art to tattooist and maybe a surprise performer or two
💃: there would be no event without all of you and RMK cannot wait to meet everyone

⚡️something that most of the bookish besties can agree on is the excitement for the release of Onyx Storm - let that be a reason for us to all come together
