Sure we’ll take a 10 star review!

“We would give Julie 10 stars but google only lets us give 5. Julie was literally our rock on our special day. We truly can’t express how much all of her help and guidance was appreciated. She read our minds and knew what we needed/wanted when we didn’t even know what we needed. For example, she had snacks and water for us during our pictures to make sure we were fed and able to enjoy the whole evening. She coordinated the vendors so we didn’t have to worry about anything. She made sure our first look was perfect, giving advice and making sure we were where we needed to be. She did such an amazing job and we cannot thank her enough for everything she did for us to make that day so amazing for us!”

This is not just a job… it’s an honor to be the person who fluffs your train, helps you reapply your lipstick(and has it ready to be reapplied after the ceremony for photos), is the last person to offer you calmness, and perfectly time the opening of the doors before you walk down the aisle.

🎙️MPEP has some EXCITING news!

💫We were named one of the top planners in the November 2024 issue of .citylifestyle magazine for our “exceptional quality and impact on the community”!

💕A massive shoutout to all our past and present clients and vendors. Your trust in me and the MPEP support team means everything. for all your support along the way. To all my cheerleaders sending me love and general excitement. And, of course, my husband and kids, who have supported me tirelessly throughout this journey.

👭I’d also like to recognize the other planners on this list. Many of whom offered me support and guidance along the way. Maine planners are genuinely unique and help support each other. It’s an honor to be on the list with you!

🥂Cheers to chasing dreams, creating memories, and helping make the world a little bit better.

✨The first wedding of the season was a very personal one!

💍The bride, Keirstin, and I both work in ending hunger in Maine philanthropy world and our paths had crossed several times. Over the years we had stayed in touch. When she, reached out to see if I had any recommendations for an abbreviated day of coordinator, I was like, “It’s me, hi, I’m the coordinator, it’s me.”

Here are the top 3 things I LOVED about this wedding!

✔️The charming, little church located in the heart of Falmouth
✔️Mostly all their vendors the couple knew in some capacity and gave 110%.
✔️The bride and groom constructed their wedding day how they wanted it. They celebrated with their closest friends and family but also carved out time for THEM to truly soak in the beginning of a new chapter. (Of course MPEP was there to support and coach them through these components!)

❓What are ways you created time or hope to incorporate for you and your partner to have a moment to soak in the beginning of a new chapter on your wedding day?

🌒Total Eclipse

✨MPEP was hired by the Katahdin Regional Chamber of Commerce to help compile and promote all the events taking place, including Star Parks, places to eat, accommodations, and restrooms. Since we were in Maine in spring, we had to plan for all the different scenarios (snow, mud season, rain, or perfect weather).

This “event” felt larger than life, and the “wow” factor was beyond my control. Many nights, I dreamed that a major northeast hit, and we couldn’t see it at all (ironic, the nor’easter hit a week before the eclipse.) In the end, the “wow” factor did not disappoint and had everyone looking ahead to the next big event that will take place in the sky.

It was a perfect spring day without a cloud in the sky. I can not tell you how many people I spoke with who had booked tickets to Texas to see the total eclipse, but when they saw the forecast for Maine, they changed their plans and headed north!

Ultimately, it was fun to see community groups come together to provide nearly 10,000 people with places to eat delicious food, shop for extraordinary items, and clean and safe places to watch the eclipse and entertainment!

It was certainly an event, I’ll never forget.
❓Where did you view the 2024 total eclipse?

✨What does “Wow Factor” mean for Non Profit events? And why does it matter?

Generally speaking, people attending Non Profit events are likely invited to many events monthly and participate in several. You can have the most engaging space, activities, and the best food. Still, if guests leave not fully understanding the organization’s mission, future goals, or current impact- you are not building strong donor relations. Stronger donor relations mean more stable future funding. Stop filling your database with one-time donors!

Also, you can only hold people’s attention for so long. Creating a moment (or two!) that really gets people attention and highlight the impact is key. The rest of the event details are a bonus for guest expereince.

Without giving away all of MPEP’s secrets, consider the following areas where you can incorporate a “wow Factor” into the program.
✔️Highlight future goals
✔️Show how past support has impacted the organization’s work
✔️Invite attendees to share their stories (of course, have a couple pre-planned, in case you have a shy crowd!)

🎀🪢&🥾

When planning , Bow Ties, and Bean Boots, we knew we wanted it to have a cocktail hour vibe, so we worked with to provide this over-the-top charcuterie table! The presentation and delicious food options guests revelled in.

💫When planning an event, it’s important to keep in mind dietary preferences and restrictions. Know roughly how many people will need accommodations. Don't be afraid to ask your catering what proteins they have for vegan/vegetarian attendees, and don't be afraid to ask them to think outside the box. All guests deserve to have fun, healthy choices!

✨MPEP’s 2024 event season kicked off with Bow Ties and Bean Boots event, but not without a major curve ball—a major April ❄️Nor’easter hit us hard. With the support of all the vendors, we were able to pivot and pull it off a week later… The backup date was rainy and cold- so we had to move all the outdoor activites indoors.

👀This was the first major event hosted in the newly remodeled HQ, So all eyes were on us!

The space felt very long and spread out, so we brought in 12 high tops that we weaved throughout the room to create a cozier vibe. We decorated these high tops with runners made out of a damaged L.L.Bean flannel bedsheet; we used L.L.Bean boots as vessels to hold flower arrangements done by and tulips donated by . We added a bow tie to the boots to bring all the details together. Then, lots of tea lights for the ambiance. (It was a cold rainy night!)

There was a raffle and auction that night. We used these adjustable table rod stands to add height and promote fund-the-mission donations (yes, those are the damaged jeans we used to help hold the cards). Adding different heights to tables is always more visual appealing, also we wanted to get peoples attention on ways they could support!

-—-What was unique about this raffle was that ticket purchasers could put the ticket into a designated L.L. Bean Boot dedicated to that specific raffle item. Guests loved that they could choose what they could win—and of course, it was fun—it was a Bean Boot!

💫Lastly, it wouldn’t be an MPEP non profit event without the “wow” factor that reminds everyone of why they are at the fundraiser and want to continue to support it. That night, the wow factor was when one of the Youth Advisory Council members read the poem she wrote while on a solo hike. The concept was that when she is outside participating in outdoor activities, she feels the closest to her core self, who she would be without all the outside pressures of the world. AND the tunes were provided by DJ will, a youth super star!

🥾We are currently starting to make plans for the 2025 Bow Ties and Bean Boots event- So stay tuned on fun updates!

👋Hi FB friends!

✨I realize it’s been a while since I posted some actual content. The truth is that MPEP grew dramatically in all the right ways for me this past event season. I rolled up my sleeves, got to work, and did what I knew had to be done for my clients and vendors. It was an incredible events season, and I can’t wait to share! Over the coming weeks, I will highlight an event weekly and share helpful tips! But for now, I’m going to do a reintroduction.

💁🏼‍♀️My name is Julie Guerette

📍I live in what “Mainers” call central Maine with my husband, two kids (and many nieces and nephews often around!).

🩵I love making flower arrangments, decorating, organizing, being on the water, skiing, and, most of all, being in my sports mom era (🏈⚾️🥎🏑🩰⛷️🥍)

📇I stumbled into events when I was 19 and started volunteering at the local hospital in my college town. After a few short months, they offered me a summer internship in the development office.

💕What I love most about my work is that I get to provide non-profits with a platform to showcase the incredible work they do to make Maine a better place!

Stay tuned for 2024 recaps!

About last night... The event benefiting held at HQ was a fabulous, fun, and inspiring night. My favorite part was when one of the youth advisory council members read us a poem she wrote while on a hike- she asked if we knew ourselves without all the outside pressures and to be true to who we are. It was so impactful to hear this from a teen!
