One Year of Narcissus & Echo ✨🤍

This time last year I decided to go with my gut and start over for the 3rd time, 4 months pregnant. When I tell you I’m a little wild, I mean it. They do say the 3rd time is the charm✨

Although the timing of everything in my life hasn’t necessarily been planned well, I couldn’t not know what would happen if I didn’t take a chance on this idea I’ve had since I was 19 years old. I’m an enneagram seven, the enthusiast, so that pretty much sums me up.

So much has changed in this one year. From thinking we were going to be moving across the country, on deciding we were gonna stay in Ontario (thankfully), to finding an amazing studio unexpectedly, and to becoming a family of 4🤍

Getting to this point has been a 8 year journey but I wouldn’t change anything about it, the really big lows included.

I’m so incredibly grateful for everyone I have met on this journey and who has shaped me into this current version of myself (she’s my fav so far) and who has helped me grow. I wouldn’t be here without any of you, truly.

To all my amazing clients, vendor friends, freelancers, friends and family who trust me and help me succeed I LOVE YOU.

Still feeling like I’m on cloud 9 since last week. My heart is so full.

There are many new followers on here, so I thought I would explain myself further. I’m gonna get a little honest here.

Flowers have been my dream since 2016.

I really started pursuing my floristry career seriously back in 2018 when I was on maternity leave with my first daughter Freya. I was 22. I invested in myself and my dream (my husband helped, I won’t lie, my number 1 supporter since day 1), and we spent 4K on a one-week course to give myself that extra confidence boost I needed and affirm that this was what I wanted to do and to gain some extra skill set. My education background and previous work was is in fashion so I’ve always had a creative mind.

After that, I hit the ground running, busting my butt at every opportunity I got. Interning with a wedding planning company, working on small jobs out of my apartment, making installations on my balcony as practice, you name it, I did it.

I had started a floral business that year and had asked a friend to join on, I didn’t feel confident in my own capabilities so I thought having another creative mind join forces with me was the way to go. That business was my other baby at the time, but also a time I was struggling with my new identity as a young mom, new wife and business owner who had no idea what she was doing on all playing fields. After 2 and a half years of running that business, I ultimately made the decision to leave and pass it on to my previous business partner. I felt like our visions were not aligning with what I had initially dreamed for myself. An extremely tough pill to swallow. I had worked so so hard to get it to that point.

The beginning of 2021 to the end of 2022 was the craziest time of my life. I took a handful of my clients from that business and executed their weddings that year while working full-time for another floral company, and I also somehow decided I wanted to help other creatives with their social media and branding because I love my socials (I was NUTS).

A vibe I’m here for✨

Neutrals but make it cool af….with a touch of yellow ✨ I love creating just for me a fun one from summer. Although I wouldn’t necessarily recommend garlic scapes in a bridal bouquet, because of the smell, they do look extremely cool and if you love garlic I say why not?! It’s your day, do what you want.

I’ve been experimenting with my tripod recently. I always felt like I needed someone (primarily my hubby) to take photos of me with my floral work. But now that my studio isn’t at home anymore that has pretty much become non-existent.

Thank goodness for self-timer and tripods.

Have you heard the myth of Narcissus & Echo before? I first heard the myth when I was in grade 4 and it has stuck with me since. It inspired the name of my first floral business and now . I love some good mythology. Especially ones that include whimsy forests, one of my favourite flowers and a love story. To also add both my daughters are named after goddesses, my love for myths runs deep.

To quickly sum it up. Echo a nymph falls in love with Narcissus and is rejected by him. Her ability to speak was taken away by the gods allowing her only to echo anyone’s last words. Making it difficult to communicate when she stumbles upon beautiful Narcissus, he rejects her. Once rejected by him she fleas to a cave (this is why we hear our voices echo back to us when making noise in a cave).

Narcissus on the other hand, stumbles upon his own reflection in the water, falls so in love with himself, jumps into the water to find this beautiful being in the reflection (his own self) and never returns. Being replaced by a single narcissus flower.

I’ve been chained to my computer the past couple of weeks, but looking a lot less glam these days. These photos are currently not the reality 🙃It’s the down and dirty kind of hustle.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to my clients for keeping me busy. I’ve been ordering away for upcoming events and been doing all the back end things that need to be done in preparation for the studio to be up and running.

Also ordering some retail products for when when we’re not knee deep in events, plus getting the retail product uploaded to the POS system 🫠The list is endless …the next couple of weeks are gonna be nuts but I’m here for it ✨So so grateful.
