The loss of life resulting from the coronavirus pandemic has caused a wave of anxiety and grief in Connecticut. It's surreal, often awkward to talk about. What do you say to a friend, colleague or relative who has lost a loved one? How do you have those difficult conversations about death?
The program will be hosted by Adam’s House Founder and Executive Director Allison Wysota and licensed professional counselor Caitlin Iannucci. The pair will share practical tips on how to talk with a colleague, friend, family member or neighbor who has lost a loved one so the conversation is not awkward or uncomfortable.
“We’ve opted for an ‘Ask Me Anything’ format because that’s the best way to have candid conversations about grief and loss,” said Wysota. “We’re thrilled to have veteran television producer Mercedes Velgot moderating the event. An annual leadership summit on climate change that was to bring elected officials from across the state to Evansville this summer will instead be held online.
This year's summit will be an invitation-only virtual conference on Aug. 27 and will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The change is a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, said Caroline Nellis, who is helping organize the Climate Leadership Summit for Earth Charter Indiana.

The American Athletic Conference announced Wednesday that it will delay the start of 2020 Fall Olympic sports competition until at least September 1.
The decision allows member institutions additional time to implement protocols for a safe return to competition for student-athletes, coaches, and staff members.
The delay in competition includes exhibition and non-conference competition in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.
The rescheduling of nonconference contests due to these adjustments will be determined by each member institution.
The American's presidents, athletic directors and senior woman administrators continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. With guidance from its Medical Advisory Group, the conference has established aggressive and proactive testing protocols and guidelines that will ensure the health and well-being of student-athletes during fall sports competition. A safe and healthy return to fall competition remains the highest priority.

The company is launching the feature today as an initial test on Android phones, with iPhones to follow, after already making personal fundraising available to Facebook users. To create a personal fundraiser on Instagram, edit your profile, tap “add fundraiser,” and then select “raise money.” You’ll then have to categorize the fundraiser, add details, select a photo to use, and then enter your payment info through Stripe. WWE called this years Extreme Rules "The Horror Show at Extreme Rules." That was, I think, mostly meant to spotlight the main event, a Wyatt Swamp Fight, but it unfortunately encapsulated much of the show. Despite a strong WWE Championship match, this was a very weak pay-per-view.
The main event saw Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman faceoff in a nonsensical short film at the Wyatt Swamp. Wyatt won, I think, but it was too confusing and boring to really matter. (And it wasn't for Strowman's Universal Championship). The Eye for an Eye match between Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins had fantastic action, but it was let down by its dumb stipulation. Asuka versus Sasha Banks was excellent -- right up until the finish, which was lacklustre in several ways.

Dreamville’s Revenge Of The Dreamers III was by far one of the best moments of 2019. The album offered one of the biggest collaborations in music, with over 100 artists and producers invited to the sessions over the course of ten days. The result was over 140 recorded songs, which was later cut down to the 18 presented on last year’s Revenge Of The Dreamers III. Earlier this year, Dreamville shared the album’s deluxe version, featuring an additional 12 new songs.
Seven months after its release, Revenge of the Dreamers III has finally gone platinum — and according to Variety, that’s a first for a number of the artists. Fifteen of the album’s collaborators — JID, Earthgang, Lute, Guapdad 4000, Buddy, Mez, Young Nudy, Jace, Reese LaFlare, Yung Baby Tate, Baby Rose, Mereba, Cozz, Omen, and Dreezy — each received their very first platinum plaque.

On July 4, TABC officers gave Rail Club Live owner Chris Polone two options: He could either shut down his Tea Party Protest show, a concert he organized in response to Gov. Abbott’s bar shutdown order, or face the prospect of having his liquor license suspended. He, now infamously, confidently strode on stage and ripped up the TABC’s order.
In the face of rising COVID-19 numbers, the state shut down bars, breweries, and various customer-facing businesses last month. Polone and others feel like the governor’s orders represent a double standard, since bar restaurants are still allowed to operate. Opponents of the shutdown say they have reached out time and time again to state officials, but they rarely hear a response. Fed up with that lack of communication, Polone is now organizing a protest he believes they can’t possibly ignore.
At 6 p.m. on Sat, July 25, Freedom Fest will span 300 bars and music venues all over Texas. A surge in COVID-19 cases is forcing InsureTech Connect – one of the world’s largest insurance technology conferences – to go fully digital for its annual fall gathering.
ITC has scheduled ITC World Tour, a virtual world tour with various events, from Sept. 1 to Sept. 18. A main virtual conference event dubbed ITC Global will run from Sept. 21 to Sept. 23, designed to be a “24 Hours a Day Immersive Experience,” according to the group’s website. It will replace the annual in-person gathering in Las Vegas.
The annual event attracted 7,000 people from around the world at its 2019 annual conference in Las Vegas. But plans for a follow-up in-person event in fall 2020 quickly became in question when the coronavirus pandemic began to spread earlier this spring. In response, Weintraub and his team began to plan contingencies, including some sort of digital/in-person hybrid gathering that would still include some sort of in-person event in Las Vegas.

To help residents take advantage of summer’s abundant solar power, the Madison Environmental Commission has invited Frank Curran of Green House Solar to give a free talk on “Is Solar Right For Your Home?” The event will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at 7pm via Zoom.

Curran, whose business is based Madison, will offer an overview of local solar projects, which include houses with shade, tricky roofs and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. He will also dig into financial incentives for the purchase and leasing of solar and battery back up systems.

Having a virtual event allowed PechaKucha organizers to invite in out-of-town guests – from New Jersey, West Virginia and Vancouver – and there's one particular name that should stir enthusiasm. Mark Dytham, the man who developed the PechaKucha concept, will be dialing in from Tokyo to give a talk.
Another notable development is that there will be a musical performance from local Matt Duarte.
