Due to unforeseen circumstances, this week’s installment of The Wave has been cancelled. This wasn’t a decision I made lightly, and I am very sorry.

I want to thank you for your support and for your listenership. I greatly appreciate it.

I won’t be on as regularly next semester since I will be doing an internship at COOL 101.7 in Meadville, but I intend on coming back in February for another show.

Again, thank you for your continued listenership and support, and I will see you in February!

ICYMI: This week's Band of the Week is TRAITRS!

I don't typically feature newer bands on my show, but this band is an exception. Musically, they sound like Joy Division and The Cure's early work. Also, the vocalist sounds A LOT like Robert Smith. If you like Joy Division and The Cure and you're looking for a newer band, I highly suggest checking out TRAITRS.

Also, I want to give a very special thank you to Zach Mosca for getting me into this band.

While you're at it, check out their Bandcamp!

TRAITRS is a post-punk band.

ICYMI: This week’s Band of the Week is Cowboys International!

Formed by songwriter/vocalist Ken Lockie in 1979, this English all-star group bridged the gap between Brian Eno, David Bowie and the new wave scene that would follow.

Some notable members of this group were Terry Chimes (The Clash) and Keith Levine (Public Image Ltd.).

Their one and only album “The Original Sin” received a rave review from Rolling Stone and was number 11 on Melody Maker’s “Best Albums of 1979” list, alongside albums like The Clash’s “London Calling” and Talking Heads’s “Fear of Music.”

Despite excellent reception from critics, the album went out of print for about twenty years. However, in 2003, the album was reissued with bonus material and can now be streamed anywhere.

Why not give them a listen? Here’s their track “The ’No’ Tune:”

07/10/2022

On this day one year ago, The Wave had its first broadcast. I never thought that I would fall in love with radio the way I did. I want to take a moment to thank my family, my friends, and all of my other supporters for supporting me through this exciting journey. I can’t wait to do more shows and see where the future takes me with radio.

As a fun little treat, I figured why not post my very first show introduction!

Again, thank you all so much for your support. ❤️

ICYMI: This week’s Band of the Week is Rain Parade!

Rain Parade is one of the most iconic bands to emerge from the Los Angeles Paisley Underground scene of the 1980s. Their sound takes a more psychedelic approach than what was popular at the time. Fun fact: former member David Roback would go on to join the band Mazzy Star.

If you’re into bands like R.E.M. and The Church, then I highly suggest checking out this band.

ICYMI: This week’s Band of the Week is The Bongos!

The Bongos is a new wave/power pop band from Hoboken, New Jersey who garnered some attention from college radio. They’ve got that jangly guitar sound that makes their music stick out. Their 1983 song “Numbers With Wings” gained then a massive cult following. The music video for the song was nominated for Best Direction at the very first MTV Video Music Awards in 1984.

If you like bands like The Feelies and BOTW alum The dB’s, then I highly suggest giving The Bongos a listen.

ICYMI: This week’s Band of the Week is Fire Town!

Fire Town is a jangle pop band from Madison, Wisconsin who earned some air play on college radio. Even though they were together for three years, their folk-rock harmonies and their jangly guitar sound has remained memorable. After they broke up, two of their members went on to form the band Garbage. If you’re into R.E.M. and Band of the Week alum Guadalcanal Diary, then I highly suggest checking Fire Town out.
