Let's finish what we started. A year ago I had the honor of interviewing our Democratic Candidate for Mayor Eric Adams on my Coffee and Conversation segment for Monroe College. Mr. Adams discussed his background in law enforcement, was insightful, and energizing. More importantly, he answered the tough questions from me and our participants. To top off the event he had a great sense of humor.

We are in the home stretch, let's finish our race strong. 💪🏾

As we all try to elevate ourselves and venture into other arenas I have been letting my creative juices flow. I know the last year and a half has been challenging for all of us. What has helped me is to practice gratitude for each day and be thankful for what I have right where I am.

This morning's Coffee and Conversation - Saturday Edition, was one of the most engaging, thought provoking, energetic and hard conversations we had to have.

Topic: "How to Have a Healthy Dialogue on Racial Injustice?"

Many thanks to our guest speaker Mr. Marq Claxton. When we had our initial conversation about you being our guest you said to me conduct the segment how I normally do. You will be ready. You did not want any prescripted questions and wanted us to have an open dialogue. Well you were ready for any and all questions that were presented to you, especially the hard ones. I can see why some of the major news channels (MSNBC, CNN and ABC) look to you for your expertise on racial issues. We learned so much from you and you appreciated our questions. Thanks for the homework assignment.🤦🏾‍♀️☺

Join us this week for week 2 of our Alumni Association Health and Wellness Program. This week's session will be the YOMA Method (A combination of Yoga and Martial Arts) with Instructor Mecca Nelson. I am looking forward to this as it will be my first time taking a YOMA class. We will also have an overall exercise class with my Summer Trainer Joel Bunche Owner of JoeKaratePro - Online Training. Last week's kick-off was great. Our program is open to Monroe Alums, Family, Friends and the community at large who want to bring health and wellness to their mind, body and soul.

Saturday's last Coffee and Conversation for 2020 was very informative and engaging. Thank you Lisa Stewart for your professionalism and knowledge. I know all of our participants had some take aways from the workshop on Tax Time Preparation. We appreciate your continued support of our program.

With all the challenges of 2020, I am so humbled and grateful that it has been a great year for Coffee and Conversation. Especially after we pivoted to a Virtual Platform. I am thankful we were able to sustain this program.

Late post, it was such a fun evening with Celebrity Stylist Jerome Lamaar on our Coffee and Conversation 1 year Anniversary/Holiday Celebration.

I was glad to see one of my Goddaughters (who is so busy with her schedule as a Nurse) join in the conversation.

We are about to wrap up 2020 and I have begun to work on content for 2021.
