♡ CALL FOR ARTISTS & VOLUNTEERS ♡

UwU is seeking to collaborate with q***r, trans, nonbinary, and BIPOC artists and volunteers for our upcoming events in March 2023 and beyond.

Our collective intention is to create safe spaces for QT/BIPOC communities with highly immersive art, music, dance, movement, restorative and healing experiences.

We would love to collaborate with QT/BIPOC video projection, sculpture, and/or installation artists in our community who we have not been acquainted with yet. We also want to work with QT/BIPOC volunteers who are interested in learning how to put together and build large scale art installation projects under the guidance of lead artists and organizers.

Please feel free to reach out to us and say hello! We want to see and support your work!

Artist stipends and equipment are available for use.

C Powers' sound is informed by years spent collecting records in Chicago, honing crowd control skills in the foggy clubs of London, and helping foster a small yet prolific community in the marshes of Savannah GA. Imagine a person that grew up in 90's Atlanta GA with Florida Breaks & Drum and Bass then went on to join one of the most chaotic drag families of the east coast while also paying bills as a wedding dj in the coastal region of Georgia. If you can conjure this crowd-pleasing combination then you have a clue: not much point in going into a C Powers set with expectations.

Tonight, we have a special guest DJ and our dear friend Chagga Star joining us on Radio UwU.
Naike Swai is a multi-instrumentalist, natural healer and astrologer of Tanzanian and German heritage from Mt Kilimanjaro. They recently started Djing, with a passion to share African Electronic music with their q***r communities around the world. They’ve been based in Portland, OR for the past 7 years and are looking to make a new home in Oakland, CA this winter.
On tonight’s show, Chagga Star will be showcasing talent from around the African Continent and diaspora. From South African Afrohouse pioneers to underground East African q***r techno producers. One thing is for sure, the prevalence of hard hitting rhythm and bass, designed to get bodies moving.

a new event series called "While you were Sleeping”.

Our goal is to promote more experimental electronic music and less popular subgenres of electronic music at this event.

For our first edition of WYWS on June 11th, DJs Cay Horiuchi (), DJ NO.Bi.Es. (.mp3) and NOLID (.bongs) will take over the DJ booth and showcase Jungle and Drum n Bass.

COVID POLICY
1. We will require FULL vaccination to enter the show.
Full vaccination is defined as either:

* 2 shots of Pfizer-BioNTech, or
* 2 shots Moderna, or
* 1 shot Johnson & Johnson

OR

Negative COVID-19 Test must be taken at an official testing clinic (no home tests) within 24 hours before the event.

2. Masks are required at this event and we encourage you to wear a mask at all times.

Our last and final DJ for 4/16 will be UwU member, Gila Suspectum!

Gila Suspectum, also a part of the House of Smokez, is a Two Spirit DJ, drag performer, and radio show host that does various podcasts, along with a monthly livestream show called ‘Creature Feature’ on Twitch. For the past two years, they’ve hosted a number of virtual events to provide a sense of joy and healing for us in the q***r community. They have been blessing the community with their energizing selections and vibrant energy!💕

DJ NO.Bi.Es is a New Orleans-born DJ and community organizer based in Portland. She shares her passion and deep musical knowledge through masterful mixing, flawlessly blending the likes of Sade, DJ Krush, Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle, TLC, and beyond across any and all genres! We are all definitely in for a treat with her two hour set!
