Topic: Expectation and Reality of Guided Implant Surgery

Nowadays oral implantology depends on comprehensive diagnostics and scrupulous planning to ensure the desired outcome and meet the executor expectations. Digital implant planning and guided implant surgery based on CBCT data and the intraoral scan.
Surgical guild improves the safety and efficiency of the surgical ex*****on and rendering the restorative outcome more predictable in function, biology and esthetics.
However, guided implant surgery carries its own specific risks as manufacturing inaccuracies and application errors. These possible sources of error must be recognized and carefully considered in order to avoid adverse consequences.

Some students may already be familiar with Thong Ting Trading Co. LTD (同鼎有限公司) from their operative and endodontic dentistry courses, but there is always more to learn. Under the skilled direction of Dr. Chen, this workshop allows participants to get practical experience with the endo rotary file and its associated materials.

Dear AC participants,
The date of the APDSA 48th Annual Congress will remain the same, which is on September 1st-4th. The tension of Taiwan Strait doesn’t affect the living of Taiwanese people. In fact, the tourism in Taiwan is still flourishing and we are looking forward to your attendance. 🌻

‼️As for the quarantine, please read the information below.
1. It will be total 8 days, including a 3 days quarantine and 4 days self-initiated epidemic prevention (the day of arrival counts as Day 0).
2. You’re allowed to go out to attend the AC after 3 days of quarantine, which means you shall come to Taiwan on August 28th.
3. The additional expenses for quarantine hotel is needed. We’ll announce the total fee as soon as we talk a good price.
4. You will take special quarantine taxi from the airport straight to the quarantine hotel, and the transportation during your stay will be taken care of.

Make sure you check the departure and arrival times before booking your flight. Counting down the days to have you in Taiwan! ✈️ See you!

Professor Dr. Kuo-Wei Chang’s will present to us about “The oncogenic roles of microRNA miR-31 in oral squamous cell carcinoma”

MicroRNAs (miRNAs), are small non-coding RNAs, which modulate cell physiology and pathogenesis by down-regulating target genes. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a rather common malignancy worldwide. Professor Dr. Kuo-Wei Chang’s research has identified the versatile roles of miR-31 in orchestrating its targets to facilitate OSCC pathogenesis, indicating that the blockage of miR-31 would be a promising strategy for OSCC interception.

We’re proud to introduce our 1st Lecturer!

Prof., Dr. Ming-Lun Hsu will present on a topic called” Future trend for application of digital health in dentistry” on the first day of the Annual Congress.

With the increasing problem of the aging society in Asia Pacific, we dentists play a significant role to maintain proper chewing function for those elder people. We should pay more attention to the systemic disease and preventive strategies instead of focusing on the treatment end of denture rehabilitation only.

📢We’re excited to announce that DENTAL QUIZ is open for registration! It’s your time to SHINE! 🌟🌟

▪️Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology
▪️Head and Neck anatomy.
▪️Dental morphology and terminology.
▪️Periodontology
▪️Pulp and Periapical Pathology

🖥Platforms: Kahoot and Zoom Meeting

📗There are 3 rounds for this competition
👉🏻Round 1:
▫️Short multiple choice questions
▫️15 questions with timing 30 seconds/question

👉🏻Round 2：(10teams)
▫️15 short answer questions
▫️15 questions with timing 30 seconds/question
▫️Five bonus questions will be provided if there are more than four teams gain the same score.

👉🏻Round 3：
Semi-Final (4 teams)
▫️3 clinical problems (include 3~4 sub-questions )
▫️3 questions with timing 3 minutes/question
▫️All of the answers will be scored by the judges.

Final (2 teams)
▫️2 clinical problems including the information of the patient, assay descriptions, clinical photos, radiographic photos and any other relative clinical test results.
▫️discuss the clinical problem for 10 minutes
▫️give a speech in 3 minutes to answer the questions including diagnosis, pathogenesis and treatment planning.
❕Exceeding the time limit may lead to score deduction.
▫️2 clinical problems will be scored by 2 different judges.

🏆Winner prize
💵Competition winner: 300 USD Cash
💵The first runner up:200 USD Cash
💵Semi-final knok out:100 USD Cash

【2022 APDSA AC | Travel in Taiwan #1】

Alishan, one of the tallest mountain and a classic tourist attraction among both locals and travelers. There are five must sees, known as the five wonders of Alishan. Sunrise, Sunset, the cloudsea, forest, and the railway.
🌞Sunrise,Sunset, and the sea of clouds
Among the five wonders, the extraordinary changes of the sky account for three. Near the summit we can see clouds surrounding Alishan like a soft blanket. During sunrise and sunset, the light glows up the sea of clouds, and the color of the sky and clouds vary according to season, time, and the weather of the day.
🚂Railway
The Alishan forest railway is one of the only three remaining forest railways in the world. It was first established to transport wood during the Japanese occupation period, and now it is used to transport tourists. A fun fact is, in order to accomodate to the landscape, part of the railway is "Z" shaped, and the train has to switch between going forward and backwards several times in order to climb uphill.
🌳Forest
As one of the highest mountains in Taiwan, we can see woods belonging to tropical, subtropical, and temperate zones, with the cypress woods belonging to the temperate zone being renowned internationally.
👥Aboriginal group
Alishan is also home to Tsou, one of the aboriginal groups in Taiwan. They are known for their "Tube rice pudding", which is sticky rice cooked in a bamboo tube, originally meant to be carried by hunters, but now enjoyed for its unique aroma. Their traditional clothing shows their age and social status, and red, white, black, and blue are frequently used.
