2023 was a mixed bag but happily, I only thought to save photos of the lovely bits. Lovely dinners with lovely pals and family, gigs from and among 7,000 others, long walks, sketchy drawings, many books, many shows, one football match (no Argyle didn't win, but at least it was at Wembley), a gorgeous new house and fab housemates and far too many pints all round. Oh, and I met . Managed to play that one super cool (reader, I did not).

The sun is shining as I post this and it's only a week into 2024 so look, I'm already being more punctual than usual. Here's to a better, brighter year eh? Happy New(ish) Year my friends. I hope you're already feeling better.

It's the last show of the year!!! And I get the feeling the bosses knew what they were doing sticking me on the Indie Night - getting all of my OTT energy out of the way before Chilled starts on 1st January 🍾

Attempting to be very cool after the news that from Jan 1st, I'm gonna be covering the most-resplendent while she has a beautiful baby. That means Chilled, Sunday all the way through to Thursday, 10pm-1am 😭😭

Two years ago I started presenting one day a week on Chilled. Now, two years on, being able to say that I'm a full-time presenter on this most magnificent, rambunctious station feels frankly insane.

It's New year, New Chill but before then, plenty of madness to see out 2023:
Christmas Eve: 1-4pm
26th-28th: 7pm, Evening Show
29th: Indie Night in for !

And that my friends, is a very merry Christmas indeed 🎄🎉🍾

All Of Us Strangers premiere: All frolics before the film, all weeping afterwards. This film devastated me. It felt like it should have been a play, so intimate and poetic and sparse was the dialogue, and so technically wonderful were the performances (apart from in all honesty wonderful Paul's accent at times - let's just say there were shifts). If you've loved Past Lives recently (or Murakami, Ishiguro or Sarah Hall's writing), Christ you'll love this, but expect things to take a darker turn. Sat next to glorious I was desperately trying to stop the dragging sad muscles of my face from pulling me further into an actual sob right there in the , because no one wants to be distracted by that when Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott are on screen. It's a beautifully nuanced, never overstated (if anything underplayed) film about family and love and identity, and what happens to people when they don't believe they're worth what others know them to be. I'll be watching it again on my own, and welcoming the breakdown. Seriously, watch it.

Just as I've finished rereading it for the umpteenth time, this came up from 2020. Ali Smith's writing is like she's translating the world for you in a completely new way, opening up bits in your brain so that everything looks different afterwards. Half of this book is about the Italian artist Francesco Del Cossa who did mad surrealist murals way before surrealism was a thing. There's an illustration in there which I love so much that of all the ideas I've had for a first tattoo, that's the only one that's stuck. I'm a fickle thing though, so it's my phone wallpaper for now just to see if I do get bored of it. Just like with Ali's writing though, somehow I doubt I will.

Finding out that l'm the first woman to ever present the evening show on 🫨 Not since the brilliant Mary Anne Hobbs back when it was XFM has there been a gal on at this time, which is all a little bit much really. Very proud, and it's very silly.
