Adriaans & Associates was born from the legacy of two extraordinary organizations: South African Women for Women (1996–2015) and its sister organization, Zenzele Development Organization (2007–2023). Both charities were passionately committed to empowering African women through education, healthcare, and economic support. These organizations provided life-changing scholarships to girls and women, essential healthcare resources with a focus on domestic violence, and micro-financing loans to uplift families and foster economic independence.

The story behind the Adriaans & Associates logo represents the deep connection and collaboration that are at the heart of our mission. It reflects our unwavering commitment to creating meaningful impact, inspired by Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s powerful call to action during the HIV/AIDS crisis in South Africa which was most severe in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

UWI Toronto Benefit Awards is a cornerstone event supporting the UWI Scholarship Fund. Since its inception in 2010, this gala has awarded over 850 scholarships to academically outstanding students in dire financial need across the Caribbean. These scholarships have been life-changing, providing opportunities for higher education that would otherwise be out of reach. The gratitude expressed by these students underscores the profound impact of this initiative, as they continue to achieve their dreams and contribute to their communities.

In addition to supporting education, the event honours distinguished individuals of Caribbean/Canadian descent who have made significant international contributions in their respective fields. It also recognizes those who have raised awareness of critical issues affecting the Caribbean region and have driven positive global change.

Adriaans & Associates was delighted to be involved in the inaugural ONYX Initiative Gala! Swipe to see some photos from the successful event. ⭐

The ONYX Initiative helps close the systemic gap in the hiring, retention and promotion of Black college and university students for roles in corporate Canada. The Gala celebrated the milestones achieved in support of Black post-secondary students and grads in the ONYX Scholars Program while embracing Black History Month.

Plans are underway for the 2nd Annual Gala, promising an unforgettable evening filled with elegance, excitement, and exclusive surprises. More details to come, be sure to save February 22 in your calendar! 👀

Adriaans & Associates is proud to have supported and planned the Ubuntu Ancestral Gathering on June 15.

This special gathering honoured our ancestors and paid homage to those who have paved the way for us. The Ancestral Café provided a unique space for healing, reflection, and celebration, benefiting anyone looking to integrate ancestral wisdom into their lives.

Participants left feeling lighter, more connected to their ancestors, and a renowned sense of purpose strengthened by the collective experience of healing together.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the 15th Annual UWI Toronto Benefit Awards which will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Ritz Carlton, with Scotiabank as Lead Sponsor for the 15th consecutive year. Joining us as Patrons are Dr. Donette Chin-Loy Chang, Mr. Andrew Chang and Ms. Brigette Chang. We are also extremely honoured and excited to welcome to the UWI family Mr. Kevin Hibbert and his wife Ann-Marie Hibbert as Patrons and passionate supporters of the UWI Awards and its Student Scholarship Fund.

The UWI Toronto Benefit Awards is a fixture on the Toronto social calendar receiving tremendous support from the corporate sector. Together we have awarded 700 scholarships to aspiring students in dire financial need and honoured extraordinary individuals and organizations.

Jackie Richardson has a voice that inspires. A legendary singer of blues, jazz, and gospel, she has graced the stage and screen as an award-winning film, television, and musical theater actress, with leading roles in record-breaking productions. Throughout her career, Jackie has recognized the transformative power of music, which began in a music-filled home. Now one of her greatest joys is when given the opportunity to acknowledge her mentors who inspired her along her journey.

On June 25th for the Toronto Jazz Festival, ‘Songs in the Key of Jackie: Remembering Bill’ will be a tribute to Bill Withers featuring Jackie Richardson joined by Mark Lalama, Rich Moore, Davide Di Renzo, Jamie Oakes and Rob Piltch.
