Garden Party Bouquets today! These have a bunch of pastel colors and textures and classic cottage garden flowers like delphinium, campanula, and veronica. When I was making them I couldn’t help but think they looked like a garden party.

I have a limited number available for pickup for $35 each.

Hi there!

I’m Ashley, and I’m the face behind this little flower farm.
I’m wife to a wonderful husband who helps me do so much around here, and Mama to 3 sweet littles who mean the world to me.

I started growing flowers because they bring me so much joy and an excuse to spend more time outside with my family. I truly love growing flowers and how it brings me closer to nature. In the summer you’ll find me with calloused hands and dirt perpetually caked under my nails - and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

But, once I started sharing flowers with others and seeing the joy they spread I was really hooked. Every year I add to my growing space and try to see how many flowers I can grow in our super short season. All so I can spread as much joy as possible.

Here’s to another year of flowers. Thanks for being here!

The season is finally starting and the flowers are coming on fairly steady. We will have bouquets and small jar arrangements available for porch pick up this Saturday 7/22 from 10am-5pm.

There’s just something about having fresh flowers in your home.

The earlier single tulips are just starting! We will be out of town for a week, but hopefully when we get back some of the doubles will be ready. I didn’t plant a lot of tulips this year but I should have a few bunches available over the next few weeks. 🌷

I did a little experiment with my cosmos this year. I didn’t get any blooms last year and I couldn’t figure out why. After some research I came across an article that said cosmos are day-length sensitive and are a short day plant. They don’t initiate blooms unless the days are less than 14 hours. (We are already getting over 17 hours of daylight!!)

BUT mature plants will bloom regardless of the day length. So I started my cosmos a lot earlier this year and kept potting them up to get them to a mature state before I planted them out. I finally planted them out and I have my first tiny bloom! Fingers crossed that they continue to churn out the blooms for me all summer!! 🌸

May! Finally some green around here. The seedlings are coming along nicely and starting to bulk up. This last week has been warm, our snow is almost gone and it’s actually starting to feel like spring around here.

My goals for this week are to get some beds cleaned up and amended and spend as much time outside as possible. And maaaaybe start my branching sunflowers and a few other flowers and veggies that I keep putting off. Are you growing anything this year?

Growing ranunculus: here is a quick ranunculus growing guide

SOAK -soak corms in cool water for 4 hours. Leave water trickling or change water every hour to keep it oxygenated

PRE-SPROUT - plant corms in damp potting soil with the “octopus tentacles” pointing down. Cover with about an inch of soil and set in a cool dark place. The garage floor near the door works great for this. Keep the soil damp but not too wet or they will rot.

BRING TO LIGHT- after about 2 weeks your corms should be starting to grow. Bring them to a lighted area. This could be a south facing window or grow lights.

TRANSPLANT - after another 2 weeks your plants should be 2-3inches tall. If the nighttime temps are above 25 degrees Fahrenheit you can plant them out. Plant corms 2” deep and 6” apart.

ENJOY!- ranunculus are great cut flowers with a long vase life. Cutting your flowers encourages more blooms so don’t be afraid to cut them and bring them inside to enjoy! To get the longest vase life cut when the buds are colored and squishy like a marshmallow but not fully open.

Fall is here in Alaska! Don’t blink or you’ll miss it. The trees are yellow and so many around our house have already lost a lot of leaves. Not much longer and I’ll be digging up all these dahlias to store for winter. What are you enjoying most about fall?

Only a few weeks left! This summer has sure flown by. The trees are already turning yellow and brown from all the rain and temperatures are dipping lower. We are enjoying all the flowers while we can 🌻
