The Henderson-Vance Recreation & Parks Department is looking for an Assistant Coach for our dance team Queen of Diamonds. Queen of Diamonds is part the D.R.E.A.M. (Diverse Roles in Entertainment Arts and Music) program. Some of the dances that participants learn are Hip Hop, Majorettes and Stepping. Henderson-Vance Recreation & Parks Youth Services Unit is looking for volunteers ages 12 and up for Teen Court Club. Teen Court relies on student and adult volunteer to provide an alternative system of justice which encourages youth to take responsibility for their actions and correct their mistakes. Tri-City Seahawks will be participating in the East Wake Football League. This is a competition football league for youth. Participants will learn the skills and rules of football. Curry Hall, Recreation & Parks Facilities Supervisor, is the newest member of the Henderson-Vance Recreation and Parks Department. Curry is from Burlington, NC, and has worked in local government for over five years. He worked as a police officer in Burlington and Hillsborough before switching to the parks and recreation career field full-time. Curry has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from UNC-Greensboro and Master’s degree in Public Administration from Liberty University. He enjoys hiking with his fiancée, Morgan, and his Golden Retriever fur baby, Georgia, along the Haw River. Curry has a love for outdoor recreation and natural resource education.

Body Blast is back!!!!!
Body Blast is a 45 minute group circuit training, focusing on all the problem areas . This will be a high energy high impact class, guaranteed to get you into shape! This class is offered live on the Henderson-Vance Athletics page and at Aycock Recreation Center on Wednesdays beginning April 28, 2021. Join the HVRPD for KITE DAY! Participants ages 5-13 years old will take part in flying a kite. This event will be open to the first 25 participates to register. Each participant must have an adult over the age of 18 with them at all times. Only participants and guardians will be allowed in the event due to COVID-19 restrictions. Participants ages 5 and over and guardians are required to wear a mask at all times. Participates will receive a kite to fly. The cost for the event is $2.00 per participate.
