I have a confession. I'm flower obsessed. I can't help it. I grew up with one of THE best gardeners I know as a mother. When I started to plan my own garden in my backyard, I started thinking through what I wanted for more of an English Garden vibe. Although it did shift to just buying plants that brought me joy, I fell in love with and her garden. And, who wouldn't fall in love with it. That's probably why so many couples jumped on hosting their wedding here once Jennifer purchased and launched it as a wedding venue.

Can we all agree that this is perfect for a Nancy Myers worthy wedding?

Mentally, I’m here.

As I reflect on the past 2 years and prep for 2024, I’m looking at my word of the year differently. It’s funny because I’ve never done the word of the year thing because it didn’t make sense to me.

In 2022, it very quickly became “Grace”. A word that I had to repeat to myself often to just keep my head above the rip tide that my husband’s stroke had on the family. It was a sense of peace to calm me down in the middle of the storm.

This year, my word became “balance”. It was a necessity as I came to terms with the trauma I didn’t acknowledge I went through during the stroke and recovery process in 2022. I had it in my office above my desk and on a rock my therapist gave me to leave on my coffee table. The word probably did more for my sanity than I could ever express. It reminded me to take breaks from work to be with my family and to balance the time off that I needed more of this year than most to get back to work.

The word for 2024 seems to be developing as “Hopeful”. And I have so many things to be hopeful for. Between finally feeling like I have a hang of my trauma, my business on my own, but also my husband is becoming more and more self sufficient that I am hopeful for his future too. I am looking forward to using this word to really challenge myself & my husband in both of our goals next year. Instead of living in fear, I want to live in hopefulness.
