Let’s talk about stress.
It is a known fact that too much stress can have a negative impact on your mental and even physical health. Sometimes though, things happen which can cause our stress levels to elevate.
For many people, planning a wedding is one of those things. As all of the tasks add up with a deadline looming, it can be very easy to find yourself in a state of overwhelm.
Here are a few tips to help you manage that wedding planning stress so you can get back to enjoying the planning process for your big day:
1. Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks and ask for help! Whether you use a planner or not, you will likely have an amazing team of vendors around you who will be willing to help and talk with you. Your wedding party and your family are also a great support system you have at your disposal.
2. When that overwhelm creeps up, don’t be afraid to talk about it. Sometimes expressing your concerns out loud to someone you trust can do wonders. They can help to validate your feelings and help you realize if the mountain of a task you’ve been stressing over is just a minor bump.
3. Remember why you are doing this. At the end of the day, this is about you! While it is important to make sure that your guests are taken care of, so is having what you want. It is easy to spiral down a rabbit hole of worrying about pleasing everyone but just remind yourself that this day is about you and celebrating your love. After all, your guests should be there for that very same reason.
4. It’s ok to take a break! If you are finding yourself getting too stressed out and overwhelmed, it is ok to take a step back for a while. Take a day or a weekend for yourself and just relax or do something that you enjoy.
5. Hire a coordinator. It is never too late to ask for help. Even if you initially decided to plan your day yourselves, if it becomes too much and it is starting to feel like a chore, hiring a coordinator to help you finish the process might be a good option. Remember that your big day is supposed to be fun!
