This is my favourite photo that I have captured on a clients wedding day! I am often gathering some photo or video throughout the day for social media content but sometimes I will capture a beautiful moment like this one in the process.

This photo was taken right after I finished getting everyone lined up for the ceremony. It perfectly captures the excitement of the moment.

Getting everyone all lined up and ready for the ceremony is one of my major jobs for the day. I help to make sure everyone is ready, lined up in the right order, and then I cue them when to walk down the aisle. This is often a moment filled with lots of excitement and nerves but it is rarely documented as the photo and video team are at the aisle already waiting for the entrance. I’m glad I was able to capture this special moment for this couple. 💙

I am still in love with the colour scheme and table settings from this November wedding. 😍

A few fun facts from this day:

Fact 1: The power went out in the entire neighbourhood when we were about half way finished setting the tables. We finished the rest in the dark. Many more candles were used than originally intended.

Fact 2: The napkin pockets are one of my favourite table elements! Even if I did spend a few hours folding them all the night before.

Obviously power outages are outside of our control and don’t happen that often so it was a unique situation to work through! What is your biggest fear for your wedding day?

I have always loved a grand entrance! It’s the perfect way to celebrate the couple and the wedding party in a fun way!

Here are a few ways that you can make your grand entrance a fun highlight of your day:
✨Pick a fun song or a song that means something to you.
✨Have your emcee quickly introduce each person as they enter.
✨Get each member of the wedding party to enter with a short signature move.
✨Have fun with it!

While there is no wrong way to do it, remember that it is best to keep your grand entrance short and to the point for maximum impact.

We would love to know, are you planning for a grand entrance, a more traditional receiving line, or both? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

How do you feel about signature drinks?🍹

Having a signature drink (or drinks) is a great way to infuse some personality into your wedding! It can be fun to each choose a favourite drink or one that matches your personality or your theme.

Signature drinks can also be used as a way to lower your bar costs if you are on a tight budget.

Are you having signature drinks at your wedding? Let us know what you would pick in the comments!! My choice would definitely be some type of mojito!

Who wants some INVITATION TIPS? ✨🌿

One of the most common areas that our clients ask us about are their invitations. From when to send them to what to put on them, we are here to help!

If you are stuck on your invitations, here are a few tips to get you started!

✨DON’T SEND THEM TOO EARLY. Many people get excited and make this mistake. When you send the invites too early, less people will know their availability so they may hold off on their RSVP, lose the card, forget about it, or need to change their RSVP reply later on. All of these scenarios will lead to more work for you at the end of the day. The ideal timeline is usually 6-12 weeks before your date depending on where your guests are located (local vs. out of town).

🌿HOW YOUR INVITATIONS ARE WRITTEN CAN DICTATE THE FORMALITY OF YOUR WEDDING. Using numbers instead of writing them out implies you are hosting a more casual event. Engraved or raised print indicates a more formal event. These are just a few examples. Your planner or calligrapher should be able to provide you with more specific guidance on stationery etiquette.

✨WRITE OUT YOUR GUESTS NAMES ON THE RESPONSE CARD. I always recommend writing in your guest’s name for them and indicating on the response card how many people are invited. This reduces confusion and uncomfortable conversations when people write in additional names. This is especially important if you are having an adults only event as some couples may not realize the children are not invited. It also makes it clear whether or not single guests are granted a plus one.

Do you have more questions about invitations? Let us know in the comments!

Do you want more personalized help with your invitations? Send us a message and we can set up a consultation for you!

It’s Earth Day! 🌎🌿 To celebrate we wanted to share a few tips for helping to host a more sustainable event! Want some more tips? Let us know in the comments below!

1. Shop local and seasonal florals to reduce your carbon footprint from flying blooms in from around the world.

2. Shop vintage! Check out consignment shops and vintage boutiques. You could even have a family member’s dress altered to your style by a seamstress.

3. Choose a one site location for your ceremony and venue to reduce the amount of driving that is done by your guests. You could also consider a shuttle to reduce your carbon footprint even further.

4. Be sustainable with decor. Reduce waste by using compostable materials, renting, or selling leftover items. Utilize the beauty of your space and consider using exposed wood tables to avoid the energy used by washing tablecloths.

5. Get creative with favours. Choose something that can be consumed and doesn’t require a lot of packaging. Consider having them double as seating cards or centrepieces. You could also consider doing a donation instead or having a charity buffet.

Are you interested in making your event more sustainable?

If you are planning a wedding these days the idea of creating a guest list may seem a bit daunting. It is definitely frustrating to not know how many people you will actually be able to have attend when your big day comes around. Here are a few tips for creating and managing your guest list which can be applied in normal and uncertain times.

✏️First make a list of everyone that you would want to attend in an ideal world. Don’t worry about numbers here, just do a name dump.

✏️Go through your list and highlight or place a star next to anyone who you feel absolutely needs to be there. This will give you a clearer idea of the numbers you have to play around with.

✏️Use an A and B invite list. This strategy is a great option when dealing with gathering limits, venue capacity, or if a budget is limiting how many guests you can invite. Under this strategy you send out invites a little bit earlier and then for every “no” from the A list, you send out a B list invite. It is key that none of your guests know which list they are on though as you don’t want to hurt any feelings.

✏️You need to decide whether you are going to be having an adults only or child friendly wedding. This can have an impact on the size of your guest lists.

Do you have any other questions related to creating or managing a guest list? Leave them in the comments below!

✨Remember that at the end of the day, everyone is there to celebrate your love!

While it is important to ensure that your guests are comfortable and taken care of, don’t forget to put your own wants first!

It is not uncommon to have a bunch of different people pushing their own advice and ideas at you. Parents, friends, and family can have a lot of great ideas but remember that it is ok to say no. This is your day and hopefully you will only do it once. It should represent your wishes and dreams not someone else’s.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! 🌹

Do you like to celebrate it?

This year I will be helping my mum to make my dad a special dinner (a cheesy lasagne, his favourite!) Then I will likely settle in for a cozy movie night at home.

I know a lot of people will likely be finding ways to celebrate at home this year as well! Here are a few cute at home date ideas if you are still trying to think of something!

❣️Have a spa night! Pull out some face masks, trade massages, or relax in the tub with some wine!

❣️Cook a gourmet meal together! Get adventurous and try something new. Don’t forget the dessert!

❣️Have a game night! Pull out your favourite board game or card game and face off.

❣️Create a home theatre. Lay out the pillows and blankets, pop some popcorn, and grab some treats and drinks then settle down for your favourite film.

❣️Make it creative! Do a paint off, write each other love letters, or make homemade valentines.

How will you be celebrating this year? We’d love to hear your ideas!

Planning out the music for your wedding can be super fun! It is a great way to showcase your personality!

While many couples immediately think about their first dance song, there are several other moments throughout the big day that you can set to your favourite tunes as well including:

🎶The wedding party processional song

🎶The bridal processional song

🎶Exit song

🎶Reception grand entrance

🎶father daughter/mother son dance

Have you chosen your first dance song yet? If you are already married what was yours? Let us know in the comments!

Traditions are a big part of the wedding world! While some modern day brides choose to go away from the traditions of the past, many others like to find ways to keep them alive on their wedding day.

Traditions come in all shapes and sizes and can be specific to your family or your relationship, or they can be much broader societal trends.

One tradition that I find really fun is that of the wedding veil! Historically, the veil was used as a way of warding off any evil spirits that were looking to get in the way of the brides happiness. While today they are mostly just used as a fun accessory, they do have a really neat origin story!

Even if you are not having a super traditional wedding, there is a good chance you are including some sort of tradition in your big day (even the white dress is tradition!) I would love to hear about it!

What is your favourite wedding tradition? Let us know in the comments below!

Let’s talk about stress.

It is a known fact that too much stress can have a negative impact on your mental and even physical health. Sometimes though, things happen which can cause our stress levels to elevate.

For many people, planning a wedding is one of those things. As all of the tasks add up with a deadline looming, it can be very easy to find yourself in a state of overwhelm.

Here are a few tips to help you manage that wedding planning stress so you can get back to enjoying the planning process for your big day:

1. Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks and ask for help! Whether you use a planner or not, you will likely have an amazing team of vendors around you who will be willing to help and talk with you. Your wedding party and your family are also a great support system you have at your disposal.

2. When that overwhelm creeps up, don’t be afraid to talk about it. Sometimes expressing your concerns out loud to someone you trust can do wonders. They can help to validate your feelings and help you realize if the mountain of a task you’ve been stressing over is just a minor bump.

3. Remember why you are doing this. At the end of the day, this is about you! While it is important to make sure that your guests are taken care of, so is having what you want. It is easy to spiral down a rabbit hole of worrying about pleasing everyone but just remind yourself that this day is about you and celebrating your love. After all, your guests should be there for that very same reason.

4. It’s ok to take a break! If you are finding yourself getting too stressed out and overwhelmed, it is ok to take a step back for a while. Take a day or a weekend for yourself and just relax or do something that you enjoy.

5. Hire a coordinator. It is never too late to ask for help. Even if you initially decided to plan your day yourselves, if it becomes too much and it is starting to feel like a chore, hiring a coordinator to help you finish the process might be a good option. Remember that your big day is supposed to be fun!
