Every year Amsterdam Spook put on a legendary Halloween costume party and a 5-day *Amsterdam Halloween Festival*. We worked year-round to craft an original theme, put together a programme of over 30 artists and DJs, and build our own props - did you catch our 3-meter high Xenomorph at the '16 Dead Space party? Each year we choose a fresh new theme and venue. Happy Halloween weekend, spooks!

We put on Halloween parties for 20 years in Amsterdam, before hanging up our brooms in 2019.

Here’s a throwback to one of our earlier parties - a horror movie themed party that we made into a REAL horror movie 😁🎃

Epic moment was getting hundreds of guests to lay down and play dead on the dance floor 😂

The style of Takato Yamamoto’s is known as Ukiyo-e Pop, a bringing together of Ukiyo, depictions of the transient world which are traditionally Japanese woodblock prints and paintings, and an aesthetic that borrows from graphic design, advertisements, and animation.

Usually, Takato Yamamoto’s pieces capture darkness, eroticism, vampires, metamorphosis, love, and death. Yet, his work never displays a moment of violence and remains strangely serene and beautiful.

Taking a break in 2019

Here at Spook, we’re all about creative costuming, deviant art & a mad love of Halloween. For 19 years, together with artists, volunteers and fans, we’ve put on around 30 costume parties, including a now legendary Halloween bash. We start planning the theme in November & handcraft props all year round. Come October, our sold-out party plays host to an awesome creative crowd in stellar costumes.

So, it pains me to announce that in 2019 we’re going to take a needed break. We’ll hold a small party for the hardcore fans, then come back more spooktacular than ever in 2020.
