‼️Public Announcement‼️
Mad Paddle Brewstillery in Madison, IN has been nothing but welcoming to us since we first met last October. They approached me asking me to bring drag shows to their establishment. Since the very first meeting to today, they have been nothing but welcoming and supportive. I would consider the owner and staff friends.
Over the past few days, they have sadly canceled the next drag show on 3/31. This is out of our control and in my opinion, out of their control. I would never ask a business to risk getting shut down to have a drag show.
There was an “ordinance” in North Vernon, IN that stated there could not be “sexually explicit” shows. For everyone who has attended a drag show, knows they are not sexually explicit.
Madison, IN is looking into their ordinances to make sure that Mad Paddle would not be at fault. During that time, I ask that everyone reach out to the local governments stating that drag is a form of art and that you want drag to be in Madison.
Without Mad Paddle, we wouldn’t have had the show to begin with, and I ask everyone to please support this business. They are wanting the city to see that the drag show was a great turnout with positive impact. I have seen that reviews are being left calling the owner and staff “bigots” and “homophobic” when that is not the case. They are on our side. They just cannot risk loosing their business.
Please, take time out of your day and please leave positive feedback for Mad Paddle. They are a small business who is in support of the LGBT community and they want to keep their doors open to everyone. Please continue to show your support for the shows by emailing and calling your local government.
Mad Paddle, I, Gunner, the founder of Drag Yourself Productions, will stand by you and support you. I understand that you are not backing down, but simply keeping your doors open while the City of Madison looks into their ordinances.
Due to circumstances beyond Drag Yourself Productions control, the 3/31/22 Drag Show is Canceled.
