Hey, hi! It's Nicole. Popping on from our break to say hi a quick second.
We enjoyed the first half of our break on the sandy beaches of Turks & Caicos with my family over Christmas. It was so amazing to slow down and be with family for 5 days. We had a large group of 17, nine of those being kids. It was wild, it was fun.
The second half of our break has been me purging everything out of our house and deep cleaning. Not really sure what has gotten into me, maybe it's just having a bit more free time. All I know is we have a lot of donations to drop off and I should tip my garbage man this week for the over flowing toter.
During this slow down, I've been sitting down and reflecting over this past year and contemplating this next year. 2024 was a big year for us as a family and as a business. Moving this little side flower gig out of the basement and into a brick and mortar wasn't something I thought would happen for several more years. Making the leap of faith for Luke to quit nursing and join the business has been equally rewarding as hard. The transition of some stability and a sense of certainty to entrapeneurship that lacks certainty and stability at time was a hard one. However, the way that our kids have benefitted from us being around, to having a really flexible schedule to do all the school volunteering, to them being in the shop playing with flowers and playing pretend with the cash register has been sweet to watch.
So for 2025, at home, I am switching away from a bunch of toxic ingredients such as laundry detergent and my nonstick pans that are chipping (if you have any recommendations on stainless steal or nontoxic ceramic pans, send them my way). I am dabbling in sourdough and trying to find a hobby that I don't try to turn into a business. For Sweet Pea, our goal is to grow, bring you the freshest flowers possible and be a reliable source for contemporary gifts in the community.
