I can’t believe it’s been a week already! But I’m thoroughly grateful at being asked to open for Christmas party last Friday - thank you and 🙏🏾♥️

It was a great party and I enjoyed connecting with the other resident DJs and having a much needed dance to shake off the intensity of week!

I’m back in the Studio on Friday, 22nd December from 12-1pm for the last show of 2023 - I hope to have your ears then 😘

Now that was a heart opening experience 💗

Thanks to those who tuned in and witnessed the expression of another, deeper, part of myself in the form of “Alt Her”.

This part of myself had been nascent for a while - a seedling that was planted as a result of an accidental, un-curated Bloop set that upon listening back, only because I’d noticed it had been selected for a “pick” on their website whilst searching for another DJ who I’d seen plays Deep House, blew me away.

I was blown away by it because it sounded nothing like how I thought it sounded at the time. It was not at all like my “usual” style and I recall the energy it evoked whilst having the thought “I can’t ever go back from this”.

There was a need to separate it from the Farrah DJ sound, to create a channel for it… and connect it with spirituality and depth psychology from a praxis perspective.

And whilst that warm, groovy, Deep House I usually play is my heart this feels like something else…

And as I’ve experienced the need to go deeper into myself towards truth aided by therapy and certain friends, this sound reflects and expresses that.

I think I tried to hold it back because I judged it but … through inner work or otherwise (ones) truth will out.

This set began as a 30 minute live stream expression and as we curated the journey it began to feel, beyond thought, like the set was soundtracking the development of a friendship currently being experienced, by this it is meant the emotional and psychological affects of connection.

With the friendship beginning about 6 months ago, what fuelled the connection was a mutual interest in Jungian psychology and its application to inner work and therapy.

The first couple of connects, which included walks around a local park, left me feeling nourished at a soul level and, alongside this, a sense of gratitude at having met someone with a depth of awareness around self, spirituality and Jungian thought.

As this set evolved to become the 60 minute radio show which will be aired on https://blooplondon.com on 24th November from 12-1pm (GMT), there were a couple of alternative edgy/strange sounding tracks that made their way into the playlist that I questioned.

But, when I had brunch with her last Saturday where I brought up a couple of rather esoteric and alternative topics I felt the shift in energy as I discussed my experiences and opinions. I then realised why those tracks had to be a part of the set - how they reflected the alternative nature of said topics and the energy they brought to the fore.

This Friday, 10th November from 12-1pm!

Words cannot express the joy I’m feeling about returning to with radio show.

With a slight change in frequency, the show will take place on a fortnightly basis from Friday. 10th November from 12-1pm (GMT) followed by Friday 24th November also 12-1pm (GMT) and then the 2nd and 4th Friday thereafter.(same time).

In addition to the frequency change, I’ll be mixing it up a bit with the first show of the month showcasing that pure Deep House sound that feels like home whilst the 2nd show will be an exploration of the depths of electronic music and its intersections with Deep House such as dub Techno, Techno, Melodic Techno etc. I’ll also experiment with what we call the stranger and more obscure soundscapes of Deep House music.

PART 2
I open tonight’s radio show at 10pm (https://www.voicesradio.co.uk ) with an old track asking for peace. I recall hearing this track some 15-20 years ago and being enamoured by its vibration and intonation and having it on repeat as such.

With it relating to occupation in Palestine, I recall the sentiment at the time around the Palestinians and a plight that had begun a whole life time before the “Hamas” terrorist attack a few weeks ago and the creation of Hamas in the late 80’s.

Occupation and colonisation is not new. We know that over the past few hundred years North and South America, North and South Africa, Australia, India (the list goes on) have been colonised with the utterly cruel, terrifying and inhumane acts being levied justified in some way shape or form against the “savages” and “animals” indigenous to those continents and countries. The irony.

With these occupations being not only physical but psychological and spiritual as well, what occurs is a death and destruction of a culture and way of life with its impact several generations long and continuing.

Why is it is possible that this is occurring in 2023? Moreover what is this mindset that would have people take without regard to other (and I don’t just mean colonisation) and what inner outer work/change is required to sustainably ensure harmony, equity and liberty for all humans on Earth which is home to us all?

There will be war and rumours of war. In addition to the horrors in Palestine, a territorial dispute between Venezuela and Guyana is escalating. An age old reason, it would appear oil and gas is at the centre of this. With conflict and war springing up around us it begs the question: are we tittering on the edge of another world war?

To that end what is happening is a mirror and a call to action for some. And with what feels like another curtailment on the freedom to speak out and question and dissent, where does this end? What is there to do?

I close the show with another oldie - a track that inspires a deep sense of hope in me. In between will be a journey of delicious dubby ‘n’ deep, deep house.

PART 1
You know when you need not one but two mo*********ng holidays to get over the year you’ve just had and to just bloody well reset. Well not you, me.

And so I did Corfu in September which was just what I needed and helped and healed massively, followed by a long weekend in Ibiza mid October as a result of following the promptings of my heart (noooo, not next year, this year Farrah).

Up until Corfu, I was running on the proverbial empty, unable to think beyond what HAD to be done in the immediate. This was caused by a multitude of things: surgery to remove two teeth in February (if you need to have this done do not delay as I did, the impact was far reaching), a few health concerns/scares to include sore ears, my cat getting ill and having to be hospitalised (if you have a pet but don’t have insurance, get insurance; as in today; now. Thank God I did). And more to include putting on 2 events. At one point I had a tantrum at the Universe as I wondered what the hell was going on. Of course there was silence and I was left with the answer coming from me instead of at me.

I reflected on part of what made that period so overwhelming. An interplay of opposites which oscillated in succession at a speed I had never experienced before:
Happiness sadness
Joy depression
Hope despair
Positivity negativity
Feeling well unwell

I recognised at one point that part of my sadness was connected with what’s going on in the world and an agenda which is making itself known with the obvious front and centre in the media, and the not so obvious coming through in other ways. Due to space limitations I will write on this separately.

But what I’m learning from this years events is that I need/want to show up differently for myself and properly apply myself to my life and the things I desire and feel called to do.

And so with that said after a break of 5 months from radio, I return with a show on this Saturday, 28th October, from 10 -11pm (link below)
and to with The Church of Deep House radio show fortnightly from 10th November, 12-1pm. I’m really looking forward to it 💛

It’s fascinating being simultaneously the witness, cause and result of one’s evolution. And with life experiences and the processing of said experiences being fodder for this, the fact that this year has been eventful as f**k has provided ample material for evolution and change.

This photo taken 5 years ago in a hotel room in Paris is both meaningless and meaningful.

Meaningless because it’s just a photo and yet meaningful because it currently symbolises my current state; of hide-ernation and self-reflection as I process and feel and change.

That it is situated in a hotel room also connects quite nicely with the fact that I’ll be playing the Prince of Wales Hotel Room this Saturday, 26th August, as hosted by for one of last parties.

After making the decision to take June off from actively playing, it was lovely to wind down (or up) from said break by playing not once but twice in Brixton: Brixton Jamm on Wednesday 28th June and the lurvely members club on Thursday 29th June where the videos and pictures are from.

It was a pleasure playing that sultry sensual underground Deep House I love without compromise. And as part of soundtracking Up Brixton’s Pre-Pride party from dining to party before handing over to the lovely for the party vibe, I also enjoyed mixing it up as I journeyed over two hours from that Deep House sound to a more upbeat House and Nu-Disco vibe, as required by the brief, with old tracks I’ve not played in a while like the one in the penultimate slide, and tracks I’ve had for ages but have not had the opportunity to play.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to play in such a wonderful space. 🙏🏾

Pure Party - Saturday, 27th May.

There’s just a few days to go until the third Pure Party, and following the first visit, with the second and third visit I’ve fallen more in love with the space that is the first floor bar at the Goat in Chelsea.

Intimate and shabby, chic opulent (if that is such a thing), the third visit saw me undertaking a sound check which really was a great learning experience for me on the basis that no one knew how anything connected! It was great to figure it out alone and make it happen!

As I played as part of the check, a man wandered up into the bar. I thought he might have been the owner on the basis that the first floor is not open for regular trade. It turned out he was looking for a drink and after quickly establishing one was not to be found there, remarked on how much he liked the music. I summarily invited him to the event next week and felt a sense of validation at the deep house soundscape I’ve chosen to play for the night.

With the soundcheck done, I’m really looking forward to both playing for Pure and experiencing what the other DJs will be serving - deep house stylee because Pure is for me as a partier too!

Yesterday was a rather intense and productive day. Following my radio show my plan was to take a visit to the venue to drop off some promo content and check out the sound system on the basis they have a Denon controller.

I detoured from that though and decided to prioritise my well-being - something that had really been distracting me over the past few days so much so I’d felt a massive sense of disconnection from the joy I usually feel during my radio show as well not being able to enjoy a thoroughly enjoyable poetry event I’d attended the night before.

After that, I took a visit to The Goat and really got a sense of the place in a way I hadn’t appreciated upon my first visit. I can’t articulate it, but perhaps the pictures will convey the essence of the space.

And so the count down begins to the final bank holiday weekend of May to this space that will hold space for those who appreciate the deeper side the house music. Who’s coming…? ✨
