We had a great time taking all of our "Cozy Drive" donations to the Northwest Children's Outreach Tualatin location earlier this year. We got the chance to meet Heidi their Procurement/Distribution Coordinator, who gave us a tour and showed us the needs and volunteer opportunities they have available.
We look forward to donating more in 2023 and becoming more involved in this amazing organization.

TrueStyle's 1st Annual Cozy Christmas Drive was a huge success!
We will be donating:
- 4 sets of PJs
- 5 hats
- 9 jackets
- 11 warm coats
- 17 pairs of gloves
- 48 pairs of socks

Thank you to those that joined us with this effort and made generous donations. We are excited to deliver these items to Northwest Children's Outreach when they re-open on the 14th.

This time of year can be magical and filled with joy, but it can also be a huge source of pain for a lot of people. If you are struggling please reach out.  If you don’t want to speak to us, or someone you know, call 988 so they can help.

We had a wonderful evening with friends and colleagues at the annual Association of Roofing Contractors Christmas Dinner. The NWIR Oregon council put together a fabulous raffle basket. The Benson is such a beautiful and festive place. Cheers to a great year ladies!

We had a fabulous time celebrating our 1 year anniversary by taking our first clients out for a nice dinner. We are thankful to have such supportive husbands who have stood by us during this first year in business. It felt good to treat them to a night out.

We try to maintain an attitude of thankfulness and gratitude all year long. We believe it is a good mental health practice and a good habit in general. However, each year we set aside time specifically to count all our blessings and be grateful on Thanksgiving. We acknowledge the fact that it has been a long and trying year for so many, including ourselves, in our first year of business. We are focusing on the lessons we have learned and that we are smarter, stronger, and more at peace than ever before and we have had an amazing network of support to get us through. We hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by people you love and yummy food.

Today we are in training to receive our "Mental Health First Aid" 3-year certification. Did you know that according to a study conducted in 2020, 83% of construction workers have experienced a mental health challenge? As you know we are passionate about the trades, specifically roofing, and company culture. Addressing the mental health crisis in your company’s culture is something we can help with. TrueStyle Presents our 1st Annual - A Very Cozy Christmas (Drive)
So many people in our communities are hurting and struggling right now and we not only want to bring them warmth but the gift of cozy as well during this holiday season. We chose ‘cozy’ because of our girls. All three of them love everything cozy and soft: blankets, hats, gloves, socks, boots, stuffies, everything is "cozy". We are so thankful to be able to provide our children with a happy, safe, and cozy life and blessed that we benefited from that growing up as well.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Northwest Children's Outreach. NCO acts as a collection and distribution center to provide to over 500 other agencies!

There is currently a big need for these items (size 12months to 5T) we are collecting:
- hats
- gloves/mittens
- socks
- coats/jackets
- small stuffed animals (no buttons)

Deadline:
Collecting donations until December 3rd
You can shop and bring items to us or contribute monetarily and we will do the shopping for you - anything helps!

Tuesday Term: Día de los Mu***os - Day of the dead

Día De Los Mu***os is a multi-day holiday that reunites the living and dead in celebration of sharing the beloved’s favorite foods, prayers, and sharing photos together. This holiday is primarily celebrated by people of Mexican heritage however, it is celebrated all over the world by many different people. We depend on a lot of skilled laborers, many of whom have Mexican heritage, so we wanted to highlight this holiday in their honor.

Today we had the opportunity to present who we are at the weekly Chehalem Valley Chamber in Newberg, OR. Thank you to everyone who came out this morning. We enjoyed everyone's questions and discussions after. It is always a great group!

Our minds and hearts are full from this weekend. We attended the 1st Annual Pacific Northwest National Women in Roofing Conference. We heard some amazing women in the roofing industry speak wisdom and drop some truth about action we can take to make this industry even better. Kendall was on a panel with other leaders in the industry and she was honored to be included. We even heard from the new CEO of the National Roofing Contractors Association, McKay Daniels.
Thank you to Amanda, Rae and Brittany for working so hard to put this together.

What was our biggest take away? Company culture is the biggest factor to help push our industry forward.
Lack of workforce and mental health are two major factors affecting our industry.

We need a friendly company culture to help with retaining our workforce.

We need a positive company culture to help with communication.

We need a supportive company culture to help employees feel safe and included.

We got the opportunity to visit the Owens Corning Roofing Plant in Portland last week. They gave us a behind the scenes look at how their shingles are made. It was great to learn more about the roofing industry from an inside perspective. It feels good to learn something new everyday. Thank you to Jeseika Jeseika Mitchell for scheduling this tour for the National Women in Roofing Oregon Council.

Kendall spent the morning with her family at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at the Oregon Zoo. We wanted to say thank you to everyone who donated to our concert fundraiser. This sign is dedicated to all of you! We could not be more grateful for all the support so that we could honor loved ones and those who are facing the disease. Thank you to the amazing staff and volunteers who made a great event. The day was beautiful!!

It's a great time to plan your holiday activities and parties. Here are some suggests we like:
- Purchase turkeys for your employees and give some away
- Do a gift exchange (White Elephant, Secret Santa, draw names, department specific, etc.)
- Work on a community service project together
- Send holiday cards to clients and employees - get creative with a fun group photo
- Give bonuses! An extra amount at this time of year can go a long way to help employees enjoy the holiday.
- Have your holiday party at a local tree farm - get a tree for the office and cover the cost for employees to get their tree too.
- Have a party!

Our first customer is near and dear to us - SA Roofing, run by our husbands. They work very hard each day to help support our families and our dreams.

As with most startups, the initial marketing budget was small but we were still able to give them a great start! To go with their business moto, created a simple website, business cards, yard signs, and door knockers. We also started their Facebook and Instagram accounts and manage them on a weekly basis.

Its been an honor to be working on behalf of our husbands and have our businesses support each other.

Never in our wildest dreams did we think in less than one year we would have launched two businesses, seen the roofing company grow beyond all of its goals for the year, put on a benefit concert, have a few clients on a monthly retainer, and take our families to Disneyland! We are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who has supported us in this endeavor in the multitude of ways you all have. We are thankful to have a business that supports our desire to be career women while also being free to be active mothers and support to our amazing husbands. We would not have been able to do this without building TrueStyle. Spending this last week on vacation as friends, family, and business partners has been icing on the cake to a fabulous first year for both of our businesses.
