Sense of power she feels,
After applying perfect eyeliner wings,
Equals a soldier’s confidence,
Who is ready to drop grenades,
And don’t you even think what can happen
to this whole universe,
if next eye’s wing shape exactly matches with other,
this game of feeling damn powerful
or collecting secret disappointments,
is played thousand times in front of mirrors
in most public washrooms and households,
but real funny thing about it
is that the result of this extreme sport,
is decided by a mere black stroke,
one tiniest shred out of place,
will be accountable for ruining your face,
accountable for first impression on your date,
accountable for you not being on time,
accountable for several weird stares and smiles,
and dear oh dear friend,
most of all,
it will be accountable for holding you accountable for bad management of every little thing,
funny, isn’t it? A little black curve which we decided to give life, will now treat us like anything?
Funny how a stroke can show its true shade
and ditch us on important days,
Whether a business gathering, party, or a date,
We feel outrageous when we get ditched,
especially on our own watch,
We watch ourselves while applying eyeliner,
And do not be mistaken,
That watch has all the possible focus one can have,
And we can still possibly fail,
But for the beauty of black of course we’ll try again, and as ridiculous as it may sound,
We can still possibly fail, and then there might come a friendly tutorial or an actual friend,
Who will put these non-matching wings to an end,
Ultimately, we’ll have a record-breaking score to this game, and yet we’ll fear that we can still possibly fail, and we would sometimes, or we won’t, I wish we don’t, but I know I would.
Eyeliner looks like such a bitchy cosmetic right now,
But if done right it can leave them all in awe.

हुए बिल्कुल अकेले हम

कौन हमें बताएगा,
कितने हिज्र झेलें हम

वैसे हिज्र काट के आखिर
कहाँ जाते हैं ये लोग ?

जीते भी हैं या फिर
मर जाते हैं ये लोग !

जो ज़िंदा बच भी जाते हैं,
क्या वाकई ज़िंदा होते हैं

क्या मैं ही रोता रहता हूँ
या वो भी शर्मिंदा होते हैं ?

मैं मुकर्रर तलाश को निकलूं
उनसे पूछ लूँ क्या ख़ैरियत ?

और कितना अलग रहना है
और कितनी लंबी है अज़िय्यत ?

और कितना लंबा चलना है
इस दश्त-ए-तन्हाई में ?

जीने को प्रेम ज़रूरी है
और कितना जियें लड़ाई में ?

यूँ लड़ते लड़ते फिर हमने
एक और दिन बसर कर लिया

इस बिगड़े हुए अख़लाक़ से
सबको अपने ख़िलाफ़ कर लिया

क्यों सुबह मेरी हो रौशन सी,
क्यों शाम मेरी सुनहरी हो ?

क्यों सो जाऊं मैं चैन से
क्यों नींदें मेरी गहरी हो ?

जब एक तरफ हो तन्हाई
एक तरफ़ा मौत बिखेरी हो

क्या तब मुझसे कह पाओगी

इन सवालों से भागना चाहूं भी
तो उसकी याद आती है पुकारने

میں مکرّر تلاش کو نکلوں
انسے پوچھ لوں کیا خیریت؟

اور کتنا الگ رہنا ہے
اور کتنی لمبی ہے اذیّت ?

اور کتنا لمبا چلنا ہے
اس داشت-ا-تنہائی میں ?

جینے کو پریم ضروری ہے
اور کتنا جین لدے میں?

یوں لڑتے لڑتے فر ہمنے
ایک اور دن بسر کر لیا

اس بگڑے ہوئے اخلاق سے
سبکو اپنے خلاف کر لیا

کیوں صوبہ میری ہو روشن سی

کیو سو جاؤں میں چین سے
