In 1981, President Ferdinand Marcos banned video games in the Philippines, responding to concerns from parents and educators who believed games were harming the youth. The ban also included pinball and slot machines, with Filipinos given just two weeks to hand them over to the police and army or destroy them.
The ban was lifted after the 1986 People Power Revolution, a powerful reminder of the freedom we now cherish.
