Lots to do this week, but what a great weekend celebrating our brand new teen 🫶🏼
Taking the day off of flowers to celebrate my man!! Happy birthday to the guy who is always there to help on a project, and keeps our world happy and humorous!! Thanks for being patient with me through the process of building this business and all the other ups and downs on this journey. One thing is true — you deserve to be celebrated! Love you, Steve. 🫶🏼
This row of Gomphrena is irresistible. Even better in person!
McKenzie, it was so fun seeing you and the kiddos and bringing you a Birthday Tray today! Happy birthday and thanks for being a ray of sunshine to all who know you!!
So what is a Birthday Tray? My Mom and I re-used a drink holder tray and filled it with goodies from 4 local businesses:
A vanilla latte from Sugar & Bean Cafe and Baking Company
A “Yay You!” candle from Andrea at Clean Candles
A gift card to Grammie's Ice Cream
And, of course we had to add a Joy Shot from Thyme After Thyme…. 🤭
Tag a local small business we could consider supporting for our next Birthday Tray!! We already have another birthday girl in mind…. 🤩
Stay tuned for a birthday gift idea highlighting 4 local businesses 🤩
Here’s a sneak peek of the joy shot! (Recipe: lisianthus, rudbeckia, oregano, strawflower, craspedia)
Who has a birthday coming up? 😆
Hoping for one last harvest this morning from this patch and then I’ll leave them be for the bees. 🐝 I wonder why they like them so much? 🤔💛🤎🖤
This is the pod left behind when the petals fade on “Ping Pong” Scabiosa stems. So fun, a bit of texture, and they play well with others — blending beautifully with so many color palettes. Subscribers will enjoy these in their mixed bouquets in the coming weeks!
Bonus: they dry exceptionally well, so when the other flowers fade, pluck them from the bunch and hang them upside down to dry a couple weeks and then find a fun little vase to display them indefinitely on a window sill or side table. 🫶🏼
They will also be available dried through The Keepary at Thyme After Thyme this fall!
If I were sitting with you on the front porch right now, we’d talk about fields covered in round bails, we’d marvel at how much the kids have grown and talk about their golf and FFA adventures. You’d tell funny stories about your own golf and FFA adventures, which would make me belly laugh, too loudly, but I wouldn’t care because I was always safe with you.
We might tiptoe into politics, but that would be tricky, so we’d both agree that the state of things is disappointing, and we’d quickly return to beauty — can’t believe summer is finally here, and I guess the Japanese beetles have made their first appearance. I’d tell you I’m getting my soapy buckets of water ready to pick them off my plants and you would poke fun a little and wonder why I don’t just spray the suckers so then I’d have to talk a little about what I’ve learned about spraying in the context of flower farming and you would just listen and be proud of me, nevermind that I sound a little granola.
We’d talk about friends, you’d tell me a couple stories about Bruce and John, I’d tell you about my conversation with Jessica yesterday and about a newer friend, Jennifer. You’d smile and reminisce about Jessica’s nickname growing up and you’d ask me more about Jennifer. We’d rock a little in our chairs in silence, staring at the sunset a little and I’d ask if you needed more sweet tea. No, I’ve got plenty, you’d say, and we’d rock some more and watch the sun disappear.
I miss our talks, but your voice and gentle guidance will never escape me, not would I ever want it to.
Ammobium or “winged everlasting” — beautiful fresh or dried, a cool flower …. just look at her!
My friend Erika did a beautiful job arranging the flowers from the two market bouquets she got!

Joy through flowers …
It was an awesome weekend at the first event of the year ! The vendors and customers were so amazing and I’m reflecting on the weekend, feeling happy to be a small part of it. Can’t wait for May!

Nothing like a surprise visit from your childhood bestie to snap you right out of deadheading roses mode and into FUN!
It was super windy here yesterday, so I spent the early morning cutting as many tulips and daffodils as I could! The kids weren’t sad to come go@e to cookies, and I got a lot done in the grow room — sowing a ton of warm season annuals, and putting up some new dahlia tubers that came in the mail. It was a good day. #windydays #growroom #seedlings #cookies #happykids #farmerflorist #microfarm #spring
This isn’t meant to be a tutorial, just a very basic explanation of a space-saving method I’m using to start my seeds without the use of a greenhouse. Many of you have been curious about what the off-season looks like for me, so I wanted to give you a small snippet! For more specific guidance, I recommend @gardenersworkshopfarm, @blossomandbranchfarm, and @floretflower is starting her winter mini course on seedstarting. . . . #seedstarting #soilblocks #farmerflorist #flowers
