TOMORROW SIMPSONS FLASH DAY AT Thrillhouse

SIMPSONS FLASH DAY!

Tomorrow (Sunday the 9th of May 2021) from 10am you come down to 559 Old Cleveland Road, Camp Hill and we bang out some Simpsons on your body for a very reasonable price.

These babies will be between $70-$100 depending on size. You can also bring down your basic designs if you want! We are pretty flexible.

There will be other flash available too BIGGER full colour pieces that will be around $250.

We will be there from 10-6pm subsisting on The Old Seven coffee and amazing cheese sandwiches (they have vegan options too) from next door. So come hang out

This is in honour of whacking day which falls on Monday!

HADOUKEN! We're returning to the world of Street Fighter and you’re invited to take part in a 48 person two strikes competition in the Netherworld on Saturday the 24th of April at midday.

We’ll be competing over four different Street Fighter games, including Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting (Arcade), Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Arcade), Street Fighter EX Alpha (PS1 with fightsticks) & Ultra Street Fighter IV (PS4 with fightsticks).

Registration is $20 via events.humanitix.com/SFnetherworld which comes with a drink, a limited Guile pin designed by Nelson Gibbins and entry into the comp with prizes for the top three places.

With an idle workforce of as many as ten thousand crew nationally, calls to SupportAct have ramped up exponentially. Many crew are not on JobKeeper, and JobSeeker is winding back while housing rent concessions are also easing off.

Many crew are isolated and feel abandoned, which is why CrewCare have introduced CrewMove as an added service to go with programs like Mental Health First Aid Training and Assisted Music Business Industry Training (AMBIT).

Any current or former crew facing difficulties can reach out to CrewCare or Support Act for immediate help. CrewMove will mobilise idle production trucks and crew to support all crew, whether or not a member of CrewCare, move house or flat. We can also help with storage should it be required. Support Act can assist with rental bonds and emergency funds.

Nadine Chemali is heading into 4ZZZ for a chat this morning. Talking about these things.

Australia is becoming more hostile to PoC daily. Migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds are told they are unwelcome here with moves like this from the government.

It’s been a slow, incremental change over time. First the citizenship test was made incredibly difficult - almost impassable by most current Australian citizens. It was offered only in English.

Why do we have the Adult Migrant English Program? A program touted to offer non-English speaking students 550 hours of free English classes. A 70 year old tradition which even my elderly Grandmother once loved attending, became a formal course with assessments hoops to jump through, often offered through private organisations with little care for community outcomes over meeting budgets.

Are they looking to phase out a 70 year old program/tradition?

Whilst the changes to citizenship tests happened the federal government stated weaponising the Adult English Migrant Program against migrants. If certain standards weren’t met, if classes weren’t attended they were marks against that persons name, potentially affecting benefits.

I know many folks that have gone home & fallen in love to eventually bring their partner over.

Between this and the abhorrent treatment of refugees and asylum seekers? Shame Australia, shame.

IT IS NOT EVEN THE FIRST LANGUAGE OF THESE LANDS.

Nadine came to Australia as a child, fleeing war torn Beirut. She is dedicated to creating and nurturing communities, facilitating discussions on identity, sexuality, displacement and representation, discourse she feels was missing from her own migrant upbringing in Australia.

FEMINIST WARES

Femmo was created when a young Nadine Chemali (pals that’s me!) scrawled the word FEMMO in a heart in red pen in the back of her 1996 school diary.
It has since grown into a community with thousands of members in a rainbow of genders, known to each other by their feminist rants and these pink heart pins.
Some funds raised will go to towards various causes. Thus far we have funded two folks to attend the moneygirl financial independence course, we put $200 towards the sisters inside freeher campaign, and a few other little causes. Full disclosure these came outta my pocket as well as costs for the initial pins etc until we sell them all.
The beauty of the femmo groups is that we use these little funds to grass roots assist members in need or help the world where we can.
We have pins!! A few things to remember -
1) we will have others made down the line.
2) down the line it MAY be a diff design so we can collect them all but don’t quote me it’s taken me 8 years to get here even.
3) don’t feel pressured to purchase.
4) I will order more once we have more $ to purchase more with
