🎬Here's a trailer for a project I edited that premiered at Circle Cinema. It was an unusual film project filled with 🐴🦅🦉animal imagery and symbolism that centered on the 2013 El Reno tornado that claimed the lives of three prominent storm chasers: Tim Samaras; his son Paul Samaras; and Carl Young.
The brainchild of Christian Kelly Large, this project featured a brilliant live score penned and performed by the incomparable Brian Haas. He was joined in the live performance by Chris Combs, Annie Ellicott and Mark Southerland. Brian played the grand piano, featured in the clip, as well as the original Circle Cinema organ. Anna Berry put on an intense performance as Mother Nature in the film, complete with voice-over. I hope one day to be able to share this with the world. Multiple camera angles and multi-track audio recordings of the one and only screening with a live score do exist.

This reconstructed dwelling sits atop the mesa that was the ancestral home of members of the Santa Clara Pueblo. Puye Cliff Dwellings This mesa would have provided residents with a 360-degree view of the surrounding area including fertile valleys, distant mountains and other inhabited mesas. They would have seen their enemies approaching with plenty of advance notice and would have a serious defensive advantage. They had water catchment ponds and developed rain run-off channels in the cliffside that doubled as semi secure (a calf-deep channel) paths down the cliff that would likely be hidden to outsiders at a distance.

Shooting a movie 🎬 on location can present some inherent risk at times. My camera 🎥 position had me filming with my back to the the river, just a couple feet from the edge 😬.

Part of Tulsa's neon renaissance, this retro-inspired neon sign hangs at The Meat and Cheese Show on 11th Street/Route 66 near Peoria Ave. The pink and purple glow on the awning is from the Wildflower Cafe next door. As a longtime enthusiast of neon signage, I am very happy to see so many new neon signs go up in my home town.
