We've been a little distant recently, let me tell you why...

Focus and resilience is needed when running a small business. You wear many hats! And most of the time, in the background, there's family stuff you need to juggle.

Although we've still been here making beautiful food & platters for you all, I took a step back from socials and did the minimum. I knew our engagement levels would take a hit but this wasn't a priority for us.

The truth is, it's been a struggle since Christmas to get back to normal after nearly losing one of our children. Our mental health took a beating and we're coping with potential long term affects which are still ongoing.

Why am I telling you this?

Because behind small businesses are real people with real lives. Never did we think something like this would happen to us and I'm so grateful to have been in a position to reduce my workload to help our family recover from the trauma. We've been exercising, cutting out alcohol, spending time with family and planning for the future.

I now feel ready to be more focused and put my social hat back on (not that I was a pro in the place 😂).

Marketing is difficult and time consuming. I've not mastered it yet! Due to my love/hate relationship with algorithms I've messed our page up since Christmas.

However I will continue trying and ask that our loyal followers, customers, friends and family to help boost our small business.

Happy new year to you 🎉 We're officially back to work this week after an unfortunate turn of events recently.

Peabox had a successful festive period with all Christmas orders fulfilled and our customers feeling delighted and happy. Our family however experienced something quite traumatic during the festive period which we're all still recovering from.

On the morning of Christmas Eve, our son Bobby who is 10 years old, was rushed to hospital. If we had delayed, we would've lost him. We spent a week in hospital where he fought for his life against a disease called meningococol. This is a rare but severe case of meningitis along with sepsis. He is extremely lucky and is making a full recovery with minimal long term damage.

Bobby's recovery at home has been very difficult however he's done amazing and is back at school today.

We're sharing this with you because we're not only a small family business, we're parents like so many of you. We know you care, we know some of you have experienced something similar, we appreciate your patience in our delayed replies to messages.

We're ready for 2023. We're getting back into a routine and counting our blessings.

Our calendar is open and we have bookings throughout January and February so please don't delay if you have an upcoming event.
