We could not be more proud and excited to tell you all that we raised a total of £717 for our chosen charity initiative .
This is an initiative designed and run by one of our founding members of The Cherry Picker Collective .
The project is in collaboration with an education centre working within two Syrian Refugee camps in Beirut, Shatilla and Bourj.
This initiative will be setting up completely immersive and elaborate art workshops that fuse drama, art and music. Each week Kitty and will be working with these Syrian students to build their confidence, encourage them to step outside the box and explore emotion through colour and texture. They are hoping to delve into the therapeutic benefits of art creation and really push for these young adults to think about their stories and experiences as Syrian Refugees and translate this into art.
The workshops will be interlaced with artists who are of relevance to these students including Syrian and Palestinian artists, female artists and artists who have been displaced and experienced marginalisation. They will also be exploring artists such as Jackson Po***ck who demonstrate techniques that step away from perfectionism and allow for free self expression and are also fun and exhilarating to reproduce.
Tales of Art will be working towards putting on a professionally curated exhibition, run and designed by the students showcasing their very own final piece of art. This exhibition will give the young artists an opportunity to invite their lived ones and create something they can be proud of. We would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who came to an Evening with The Cherry Picker, we are completely blown away by the result and we are looking forward to our next event. Big Love ###
