Copied from another face painter...
K. Following Corey Morgan and at the suggestion of another I'll post some of my "starting tips/ business advice"
Working for FREE or cheap because it's a hobby/ you don't need the money...
This goes for any industry (knitting, crochet, face painting, photography, whatever)
Whe you offer your services for free you devalue other people in the industry that are trying to make a fair wage, a living, feed their family, get paid what they deserve for their skills. Before doing this "just for fun" consider the impact to those that need the business.
Are you in a position where you don't need the money? Wow, fabulous for you. I suggest you: limit your free services to one or 2 special charity/ non profit/ etc groups that you would otherwise donate your time anyway. No problem with that. Many of us do this if we are able.
For everything else... I suggest you either charge a fair rate or leave it to a business person. What you do with the money after is up to you... if you don't need it there are many charity groups that will happily take it off your hands. Please don't cost others their income earning potential by giving away your talent, skills, product, and time. It devalues the industry, and makes it much harder for us to work for a fair wage.
Once again take this to any other industry and apply it too!
Cheers
Andrea
