So COVID be damned !! Tired of masks, tired of the news, tired of the negativity. But never tired of the music.
It has been one of the main staples that has helped all of us during this incredibly crazed time and I suspect for many of you; it is the same. We all know it is not over, but we are getting used to coping, getting used to existing, yet despite everything, we are going to make it. Time to get back to those little things that bring us some joy. This brings me joy.
That is the place where this third chapter in The Danse Macabre Series comes from; a place of solace, of despair, of introspection, and ultimately of joy, of resolve and finally just saying, "F**k It, Let's Go !"
This is me. What lies bubbling just beneath the surface waiting to explode, coming out in a blast of musical manipulation that makes me feel good through all of this....sh*t. I hope it makes you feel good too. I always seem to be in wonder, although I shouldn't, how much music alters perspective and attitude, not just in my life, but in the lives of so many people - doesn't matter the genre. Enjoy it. This is built from a place of reverence and I wanted the listener to feel the pull on their heart strings, the way I did when I was putting it together. Get up and dance. Sway back and forth with your eyes closed listening to nothing but the music and whatever is around you. Do something with it. Just Listen and you will get it And in a time where we have become so hateful, so base, so antagonistic, so violent, so segmented, I hope that this puts a smile on some people's faces, some pep in their step, so to speak.
My Shattered Soul is my return to the turntables after nearly a year. So thanks to all my friends who have been "going through it" and are coming out triumphant, this is for you. To my friend who has had a successful kidney transplant and is flourishing and doing better than great, this is for you; to my friend whose son had open heart surgery during this pandemic and is alive and well and destined for greatness - this is for you; to my friend that always seem to check in on me and everyone else at just the right time and when we need it most.....this is for you; to my good friend, whose dad has been diagnosed with cancer, but you are staying strong and making the most of life and being with your family, this is for you; and finally to my own family members, who are going through some trying times of their own, this.......is for you.
Actually for anyone who needs it, this is definitely for you as well.
