It’s taken me a long time to muster up the courage to sit down and type this out. Life has a funny way of just knocking the breath out of you when least expected.

At the end of last season I felt abnormally overwhelmed. I took the beginning of winter to sit with that feeling and allowed others to bubble to the surface. My personal life was crumbling before my eyes and my business felt daunting. This business is tied to the land I inhabit. That land is tied to my personal life and it was so unsettled that I decided to slowly and painfully let go of my business.

Over the course of the beginning of 2024 until now, I’ve stayed quiet watching all my hard work unravel in the field, the relationships I’d built with flower lovers dwindle, and the hunger for changing the local flower movement shift into a competition. I never stepped into this role to be the best; I did all of this for beauty, for my mental health, and to find connection in a land that seemed so foreign to me. The flower world is beautiful but boy oh boy does it have its competition and ugliness.

With a heavy heart I announce, will be officially closing its doors, allowing Mother Nature to take back the land, and ceasing all future productions. The few events I have later this year will be my final as a business.

I will never be completely absent from the flowers, they mean so much to me as do the real, unapologetic connections I’ve made over the years. But I will now take the time to enjoy them rather than grow them.

Thank you for being here from the beginning, through my cancer journey, learning right along side with me. I cannot express the gratitude I have.

I will be cancelling this profile in the next couple of weeks. For those of you who have read this far, and want to, my personal page is .starkey

I love you all!

Ranunculus are one my of my favorite flowers to use for weddings. Its delicate multi-count petal structure is only second to an English garden rose and is so versatile; they can be used as focal flowers in a more delicate and feminine design, or a secondary flowers in a more abundant and lush aesthetic.

In just a couple of weeks I will be soaking, pre-sprouting, and planting about 2500 of these beauties in our high tunnel for spring brides.

Spring is such a wonderful time to get married and we’d be honored to design and create for yours! If you’re searching for your wedding florist, search no further. We have some openings, inquire through our website or comment “BRIDE” below and I’ll send you the link to begin our intake form.

Cheers 🥂

Seasonally inspired bouquets are something I love.

Hayley’s bouquet consists of foraged fern, lemon basil, sunflowers, rudbeckia, foraged local apple tree branches, and chocolate cosmos.

Are you a seasonally conscious bride and want something that is unique to you while also eco-friendly? I’d love to help you achieve your wedding floral dreams.

A spooky season indeed

Are you into Halloween? If so, do you dress up?

I used to dress up with my son but now that he’s 14 he prefers to hang with his buddies, trick or treat at the “choice” houses in our city, and keep the costumes to a minimum. Head over to our stories to see what he dressed up as today.

Also, new product drops will happen tomorrow morning for our newsletter subscribers. If you are not a subscriber and would like to be one, sign up now to receive our email and first pick on products.

An elegant and bold Autumn affair for Mariel on her wedding day. Encompassing Autumnal sunsets and warm mugs of apple cider, this bridal bouquet marries both the earth and sky.

Designing has taken hold of my soul and entrenched me with joy. I’m a highly sensitive and intuitive person so it’s not uncommon that privately I shed some tears while creating, this bouquet did not disappoint and most definitely made me cry.

Being a part of couples lives is such a dream. Thank you Mark and Mariel for this privilege.

An ode to yellow and a roadside find.

For months I have wanted to stop and snag some of our native cleome lutea to design with. The delicate nature of the seed pods hanging and the brightness of the yellow has always drawn me in. About a week ago, I finally stopped and harvested just a single stem; it was massive!

I hope you enjoy this use of a Nevada native annual herb, sunflowers, rudbeckia, and tomato vine.

Do you see it? When moving these buckets of flowers for into better light for their photo op I haphazardly placed them. It wasn’t until I looked at the photo that I saw it.

Unpopular opinion: Zinnias are too common.

Zinnias have always been a tricky flower for me. They are more commonplace in landscape than initially anticipated because of their easy to grow nature and prolific bloom capacity. They have never really excited me and some of the varieties have disappointed so much so they haven’t made a second appearance on our farm.

While I am aim to grow unique, hard to find, and antique flowers this criteria has never been fulfilled with Zinnias but I just can’t seem to let go of them and they’ve safely had a space in my field year after year.

My love/hate relationship with Zinnias is waning and love is winning. While these are not the super rare or bred seeds, for now these gorgeous array of three different zinnia types will do.

I purchase Tiffany’s seeds this past winter and misplaced them only to find them “secretly” stashed away and now it’s too late to plant them. I recently purchased Kori’s seeds through and I am so excited to be growing them next year! I simply cannot wait to share their beauty with you!

Tell me, do you love or hate zinnias? Do you grow them? If so, what varieties are your favorite?

C O L O R

Bright colors don’t often make the cut for wedding florals especially contrasting colors. I’m here to tell you weddings can be colorful!

While we appreciate and cherish the softer pastels we really get excited when one of our couples wants more color to celebrate their day.

All florals seen here were grown on our boutique farm in Fernley, NV. Sown from seed, grown from bare roots or tubers, all our flowers are tended to with some of the best soil and compost around and are Certified Naturally Grown.

If you’re engaged and want to celebrate with color and 100% local flowers we’d love to hear from you.

Historically I’ve grown lisianthus from seed myself. I felt weird buying plugs, like it was cheating, I think many growers feel this way.

I purchased my first box of plugs from and was tickled pink when they arrived alive healthy and an entire 288 tray FULL of lisianthus! It felt exciting, like I already had a jump on the madness spring brings but I still had that guilty feeling as if I had somehow cheated the system.

In all the years I’ve germinated lisianthus, I only had about 30-40% success rate and it would feel so awful when after transplanting them outside as teeny tiny seedlings (and after 4 months of growing in my basement), they would be eaten by a hungry quail, scratched up by my chickens, or fail because they didn’t root well enough in our soil.

I can say now, I will not feel bad or guilty for buying plugs! They are strong, sturdy, healthy and so prolific.

Cheers to trying new things and to letting go of that negative internal talk to make our lives happier and more efficient.

Happy birthday flowers to me!

Today is the day, I’m entering the final year of my 30’s. 30 was hard, full of devastating loss, suffering and change. I wouldn’t have it any other way though. Life has a funny way of circling back with good.

Cheers to the final stretch of 30’s and entering a new era!

Gimme all the pinks and reds with a little sprinkle of white seashells.

Pictured: one of our $25 farmers markets bouquets includes agrostemma, rudbeckia, campanula, larkspur, dahlia, dara, and bee balm.

All grown on our farm in the high desert of Nevada, using methods without the use of chemicals and with soil biodiversity and health as our backbone.

NOTE: Dara is one we don’t intentionally grow, we cull and harvest to be certain we control her invasive habit before she goes to seed. We do not suggest growing her on purpose.

“There is a past version of you that is so proud of how far you have come” -Brian Weiner

As I step in front of the camera I’m reminded of how much I have changed. Becoming a business owner, a farmer, a florist, and a cancer survivor has opened up doors and closed others. It has enhanced my creativity. It has forced me to be the face of my business (as uncomfortable as that is), it has shifted my soul into a more peaceful state.

I have come so far. Achieved so much. Healed from so much. Accepted myself so much more than I ever have. As I shift closer to my authentic self I see such a beautiful and well-rounded human.

I have so much more to achieve but today I sit in gratitude, strength, and fierce perseverance and I am so damn proud of who I am and what I’ve accomplished.

You don’t have to have a large space to grow your own food. Our friend Jessica Dover is kicking butt at growing her own food in her small backyard space. She purchased our Garden in a Tray earlier this year and split the Tray of 24 plants with her mom. Look at them now! I can’t wait to see all the nutrient-dense, organic food her small but mighty garden produces for her and her daughter.

We LOVE to see your garden photos. If you have some send them our way and we will share with others to spark inspiration.
