What Is a Minimony?
What exactly is a minimony? It's exactly that: a minimony is a mini ceremony held with your loved ones, or simply a moment of commitment shared between yourselves. Given the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic, couples have been opting to move forward with weddings or mini ceremonies, now defined as minimonies, for a range of reasons. 😉
What makes this event different is its size and its meaning. A minimony is considered a commitment ceremony between you and your partner, and it can include up to 10 people—as long as you adhere to social distancing measures. The health of you and your loved ones should be priority throughout the planning and postponement process. Many couples who've had to postpone their nuptials (millions through summer 2020, in fact) are encouraged to consider a minimony to honor their original wedding date or to move forward with this option for legal purposes. 😃

Distinctive crops like endives, asparagus and the hop shoots grown across Belgium allow chefs to get creative with our seasonal vegetables. Castle of Brasschaat
The history of castle domain Brasschaat originated in the 18th century, when the original building, the "Helhoeve" a farm, was converted into a court of pleasance. "Armand Reusens", Mayor of Brasschaat in 1872 , built a new and beautiful castle in French neoclassical style. He had acquired the estate from his father and his predecessor "Honoré Guyot". Mayor Reusens also enlarged the surrounding domain and made it into a public park with garden.😊
After his death, the estate went to his nephew "Albert Octave 't Serclaes de Wommersom". In 1906, the property was sold to a specially made company to preserve the castle and the grounds for the future generations. One of the shareholders of the company, "Eduard Thys" lived in the castle until 1914, the start of the First World War.
In 1923 the company sold the castle to "Rose Gremmingen Anne", the widow of "Georges Born" a rich merchant. In 1949 the castle and grounds with nearly 170 hectares were purchased by the community of Brasschaat. Since 1978, the domain is managed by an organization called "Forest and Green" to preserve the grounds as a public park. The castle itself was transformed into a restaurant.😋
Today the neoclassical castle and park of Brasschaat are a unique setting for family celebrations, corporate events or weddings surrounded by a beautiful park.😉

Where do your wedding dreams take you? A fairytale wedding amongst the medieval architecture of Bruges? There are plenty of lovely hotels that would make perfect venues for a destination wedding in Bruges, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Often called the Venice of the North, beautiful walks, scenic canals and ancient squares are what Bruges is popular for. If you want to take a strenuous climb, go to the top of the famous belfry for an excellent view of the city. See Michelangelo’s Madonna and Child, located in the Church of Our Lady. Flanders scores highly around the world not just for its quality chocolate, but also the refined pralines made with it. It’s no surprise then to learn that it was in Brussels where the first Belgian praline was first created.😊
In 1857, Jean Neuhaus opened a pharmacy in Brussels’ prestigious Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert. To make his medicines taste nicer, he coated them in a thin layer of chocolate. From this simple idea, his grandson, Jean Neuhaus Jr. inherited his father’s passion for chocolate but also came up with the ingenious idea of replacing the medicine with a delicious soft filling. So, in 1912, the praline was born.😉
In addition to this, in 1915 Louise Agostini, wife of Jean Neuhaus Jr, created the first ‘ballotin’, a decorative box secured with a ribbon in which the chocolates were sold – helping to establish Belgian pralines as an indulgent luxury. 😋
In the next few years the praline boomed in Belgium as chocolatier Charles Callebaut learned in 1925 how to transport liquid chocolate. Ten years later, Basile Kestekidès (family of the founder of Leonidas), created the legendary Manon: a large praline based on coffee-flavoured butter cream enrobed in white chocolate. This delicious treat is still a hit today!😍
