This 18th Birthday Surprise Picnic was a dream (and a prayer) come true! After a dreary forecast almost pushed it inside, the sun came out just for us! We found THE perfect spot in the park for when the ground is wet but the skies are clear. The new candles, fresh flowers, and spring aesthetic have us smiling all week!

I met Tiffany after becoming a small business owner. We bonded over the struggles of being creative/making money/pursuing our dreams. Tiffany is the real deal, such a hype girl, incredibly talented, and has made my life brighter and more connected. She’s come to my events, I’ve come to her events. We support each other’s talents, and it makes what is ordinarily an isolated job connected.

These are the kinds of friendships we (Tiffany and I) hope to foster for our Creative’s Meet Up on April 1, 2-4. We want YOU to come: the creative who doesn’t show their work to anyone but her mom or the small business owner who feels like he’s drowning in work or the artist who wants to collaborate but doesn’t know how. We want you to be connected and have a good time and realize that it’s better together.

Film Picnics Part V

How many times, when something cool happens in our area, does someone say, “This doesn’t feel like Lake Charles.”

Oh, my friend, stop considering Lake Charles to be less-than. I invite you to, instead of wishing Lake Charles felt like something else, to embrace the strong culture and beautiful people that reside here. There are so many good things blooming on this soil, and we get the chance to plant something as opposed to wish we were in a different garden.

After the hurricane, I was interviewed to give input on how to spend some grant money to benefit the community. The other young people on the call complained about how there isn’t enough fun events and big corporations. I instead said that I wished the people here would realize that THEY are the ideas, businesses, and people to be the change. I wish they had the courage to go for it. Lake Charles doesn’t need a Top Golf. We need YOUR ideas and YOUR unique businesses. I am proud to be creating fun events for the community.

It feels exactly like Lake Charles.

Our favorite moment of the year!

Josiah messaged us wanting a picnic proposal and we worked together to plan the magical night. When we do proposals, it’s more than planning a picnic. We help with the day-of coordination, getting and debriefing a photographer, and more. The anticipated day arrived, only to bring… rain. We worked quickly to arrange the picnic proposal inside of , their first date location. As it turns out, the cozy rainy day was the perfect backdrop to the magical night.

We know we’re in the thick of proposal season right now, so if you know someone who is stuck on what to do, have us help him out! It’s more than a picnic, it’s a right hand man in the process, connections for locations, and that plan B in case it rains.
