Every night before a gig--or the day before I always set everything out. All of it. Check the batteries. Pack the back up batteries, check the cables, the spare cables, the mics, all the speakers. Power cords. Extension cords. All of it. If you prep, you're assured a good show. If you don't meticulously set everything out and play it over in your head--you'll forget something. Good DJ rigs have lots of movie parts. You also never know what's waiting for you, what's there and what's not when it's a new room with new techs. Good techs are like gold in your hand. They can make or break you.

I'll be Performing at the MGM Grand Las Vegas tommorrow for 500 people. Gotta go scout my room today. You can't do the strip these days without homework, prep and a plan. These properties are just too massive. It's not about just playing the gig, it's about large amounts of prep and planning too.
