Funny how now I've taken the pressure off myself, I can enjoy the process of baking again!
Hope the birthday boy enjoys his cake today (I know his Dad was ready to enjoy it yesterday!!).

Today is the end of an era. Our local chippy is closing after 81 years of incredible service to our little town.
I was so honoured to be asked to make cupcakes for their last day today.

Wishing Gary a long, happy and well earned retirement and wishing Hayley a wonderful fresh start. Your fab business has been a part of our week my whole life and all of Zanes life. 💞

My bakes from the last 3 nights have included:

Large Carrot Cake 🥕
Large Victoria Sponge 🍰
Large Chocolate Cake 🍫
18 Vanilla Cupcakes 🧁
1 Millionnaires Shortbread 💰
1 Chocolate Brownie 🍫

(And one chocolate cake in the bin!)

And despite how tough this week has been, I might do a spot of Easter baking this weekend!!

I'm having a serious think about bringing my little hub to a close. The price of ingredients, equipment and home fuel not to mention the time it takes (alongside a busy full time job) makes baking a serious challenge now.

I often work for hours with such tiny profit, it means after costs I'm working for less than an apprenticeship hourly rate, and that also means my evenings are taken and I'll come in from work, straight to bake, shower and bed, and my family will tell you this makes me not much fun to be around..... not to mention nights like tonight when you're on a mega right schedule and a cake just goes t**s up (sorry) meaning I've lost both time and money.

I love the joy my cakes bring others but quite simply they don't bring me much joy anymore. 😥

Maybe tomorrow I will feel different.... maybe not. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am raising money for Treetops Hospice so any cakes sold this weekend are going straight into the fund pot.

I have 8 slices of brownie available tonight and there will be 12 slices of millionnaires shortbread ready for midmorning tomorrow

4 for £5 or £1.50 per slice.

Money can be paid directly to my Treetops fund page or cash and I will transfer it xx

Lockdown Baking!

I’ve always loved baking - not so much cooking, but baking just makes me smile! I’m a feeder, so seeing someone enjoy my baking is a great feeling! Over the years I’ve fed many a work colleague with my cheesecakes, sponges and even put together a few impressive birthday cakes in my time. 2020 has been a weird one for us all, and being at home more I’ve had time to bake more, so I started to think - why not try this as a little business?

I certainly don’t claim to be a pro, and my sweet treats might not have that shop bought perfection about them, but I think they taste good, so that’s OK!

At the moment, my favourites are my signature Millionaires Shortbread, and those homely traditional treats like Apple Sponge, Cornflake Tart and good old Chocolate Cake - but if you have a cake idea that I’ve not tried yet. I’m happy to give it a go (within reason!!)
