Trumpeter's Multi-Track Competition

We regret to inform you that our 2023 Competition has been cancelled, due to the lack of submission this year, as well as unexpected life-altering circumstances occurring to some of our team members. This decision does not come lightly but is a necessary one to ensure the longevity of TMTC. Submission fees have been refunded to all of the participants who registered for Season 3.

Our goal is to plan more effectively for future integrations of the competition by expanding our team and planning for better promotional opportunities. We invite all who submitted for Season 3 to resubmit their entries for future iterations of this competition to be properly considered with no additional time or costs to those participants.

SEASON 3 DEADLINE EXTENSION
OCTOBER 1st, 2023 - NEW SUBMISSION DEADLINE

We have decided to push back the submission deadline for the competition from August 15th, 2023 to a new submission deadline of October 1st, 2023. We believe this new deadline will help in many different ways:

- It gives more time for contestants to develop their multi-tracks.
- It gives more opportunities for the word to spread about the competition while school is in session.
- More Abilities for contestants to gain knowledge about how to Multi-tracking

The new timeline is as followed:
Competition Submission Deadline - October 1st, 2023
Announcement of Finalists (top scoring entries) - October 30th, 2023
Finalist Showcase and Awards Ceremony - November 2023 (Final Date TBD)

If you or anyone that you know has a great trumpet multi-track, encourage them to submit to the competition, regardless of when the video was uploaded!

We have had some exceptional entries at TMTC over the past two years. Throughout Season 3, we will highlight some past entries as well as some other great multi-tracks we feel should get some recognition online.

Today we will highlight the TrumpetVans with the submission of 'A Thousand Angry Bees'. An awesome piece featuring some harmon mute! This a good reminder that collaborative submissions are allowed this year as well!

We are currently developing all of the details on the 3rd Season of the ‘Trumpeter’s Multi-Track Competition’ and are excited to share our plans very soon. While we do not have all the specific details ready to show right now, we would like to release some projected dates of the Season 3 Competition as there are major changes to the timeline compared to previous Seasons.

Season 3 - Submission Deadline: mid June, 2023
Season 3 - Finalist Showcase Premiere: late August, 2023

That is all we have to share right now
Expect some more information about Season 3 in the coming month.

Marcus Grant will be recording Joseph Ittoop's 'Blessed Assurance'! We are excited to see this release about a month from now! :)

Joseph Ittoop's trumpet sextet, 'Blessed Assurance,' is another piece accepted in the DtS/TMTC Call for Scores. The recording that will launch in a month will be performed by TMTC director, Marcus Grant!

"Joseph Ittoop has performed extensively as a tenor soloist in opera and oratorio in the United States and Europe. As a composer and arranger, he has written works across multiple genres, including string quartets, brass quintets, jazz combos, and voice. In 2022, he received Honorable Mention in the Emerging Composer Competition (sponsored by the International Women's Brass Conference) for his arrangement of Abide With Me for Brass Quintet. Mr. Ittoop holds degrees from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In addition to singing, he plays and teaches clarinet, saxophone, and classical/jazz piano."

Laura Millar's flugelhorn quartet, Requiem, is another selected work for the DtS/TMTC Call for Scores!

"Laura Millar is an Ohio-based performer and composer.
As a freelance trumpet performer, Laura has played for local orchestras, churches, and also enjoys playing 2nd cornet in the Central Ohio Brass Band. She has a bachelor's degree in music education, a master's degree in performance, and is a member of the International Women’s Brass Conference. Laura was also a 2022 participant in the Westben Performer-Composer Residency program.

Her compositional work focuses on music for solo trumpet (often with electronics) and trumpet ensemble. She describes her style as ambient-inspired, writing pieces that are slow, melodic, and highly expressive. Her hope is that her music brings people whatever it is they need in the moment."
