One year ago today, Mom woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me my Papa had passed peacefully in his sleep. The day before, we had been filling his room with people and noise. But he waited until we were all asleep.

Papa was the humblest, kindest person I have ever met. He showed me what qualities I should look for in a husband. He led by example. He had a great sense of humor. When I was younger, I honestly didn't know there were people in the world who didn't use sarcasm.

The memories I have with you are countless. I am so lucky, glad, blessed to have had you in my life, and taking care of you for your last year-and-a-half was an absolute honor. I love you, Papa! 💖
