Playing at Raves of Longton,

Pete Bromley,

It’s easy to forget the impact Pete Bromley has had on the local club scene with him currently being more popular than ever, 30 years since he first started getting recognised as one of the areas top DJs.

Recognised as Stokes own godfather of house, Pete has encompassed pretty much every sub genre along the way but don’t let his current popularity detract from the impact he had during the early 90s rave explosion. It’s been well documented over more recent times that Pete was the first DJ to play a specific house set at Shelley’s before the venue actually put on any of their now legendary dance nights. Pete played at Shelley’s on and off during that period before it actually blew up and became a national phenomenon so his appearances there aren’t so well documented.

Petes star began to rise as the final flames of the Longton rave scene flickered as Golden had started in 1992 and the following decade would see him cement himself as the areas premier DJ residing at golden amongst dozens of guest appearances all over the UK and occasionally beyond.

Whenever Pete recants his journey, he always circles back to his time in Longton, as without that period, arguably Stoke’s clubbing history would be very different indeed.

Daz Willott

No Stoke on Trent DJ represents the early 90s rave scene more than local hero Daz Willott.

Daz was without doubt the king of Longton back in the day where he would play at every burgeoning dance night the city had, eventually becoming resident at Entropy on a Friday & Amnesia on the Saturday and after the closure of both nights, went on to play for kinetic regularly way into the mid 90s.

For those 2 brief pinnacle years 1990-92, Daz was the DJ that everyone loved. Guaranteed to bring the party, no matter who the guest DJ was. His signature end of the night sets where he would dig out all the classics, would become the blueprint for every DJ on the retro scene and is still the benchmark for many. His residencies along with the now legendary venues put Stoke on the map for a time and he without doubt will go down in the local history books as the poster boy for Shelley’s & The Leisurebowl

The 90s rave scene is without doubt the single most important musical movement since punk rock in the 70s! Many of us were so lucky to live through this period and particularly in stoke on Trent we were very fortunate to have two of the most important clubs of that era in the Longton Leisurebowl and Shelley’s Laserdome.

Join us in celebrating these venues with some of the original artists of that period that performed in those 2 very special venues. It’s been 30 years since Shelley’s closed its doors, it’s time for us to reunite in Longton ❤️

Kicking off the start to the build up of The Raves of Longton, two of the most influential DJs and legends of the Stoke on Trent Dance music scene, Pete Bromley and Daz Willot.

Pete wrote a few words about their friendship 💛🖤

The after Shelleys Burslem illegal rave where we both got arrested, we were together weekly at Shelleys Saturday night before amnesia took over.
I took over from Daz when he left introspective but we played on the Sunday alldayers together there.

Introspective invite only parties at synergy studios, early days we used to go and support each other at our own events so he would come to Central Park and I would go to Friday night Shelleys + lots of other one offs.

We have been friends since the mid 80s via his record shop wildstyle. Then we got bought together again on the Sugarmill revival nights 11 years ago.

Space Terrace legend, Viva Warriors kingpin & all round DJ royalty Steve Lawler playing at Aynsley Mill!

Certain DJ have had a big impact on Stoke on Trent & none more than the mighty Steve Lawler!

Steve was a legend here in Stoke as far back as his Golden masterclass gigs at The Void where he cemented himself as one of the biggest UK DJs, then went on to become an absolute hero in Ibiza in the naughties by making the Space Terrace his own for years and thus becoming a huge worldwide guest DJ in every territory.

After this, his label Viva Music and his club events Viva Warriors became the go to brands for the quality sounds that everyone was clambering after and his labels music and club events came with the gold seal of approval.

Still with a heavy global touring schedule, we’re lucky to get Steve to fit us in his diary for a party this summer that should be one of the most exciting parties in Stoke this year!

Aynsley has been described by many as a little oasis in Longton.

Aynsley Mill Events offers a full range of spaces for all types and style of events and can cover anything from a product launch to music events and everything in-between.

There a number of Event Spaces ranging from an 800 Capacity flat tarmac space that can be turned into limit less options with Marquees, Truss Structures and experiential features, through to the new Micro clubs and Courtyard.

This summer we will be launching a new Court Yard Space. A 220 capacity covered courtyard within the heart of Aynsley Mill that can easily be themed or transformed into something special. The space will be available for hire with numerous options available. Feel free to get in touch to discuss pricing and availability.

Also launching mid summer will be two fully operational micro clubs, operating from inside Aynsley Mill Studios private members venue Complete with DJ Practise rooms and Musics productions facilities. The Micro Venues will be fully licensed with full on sound and lighting packages for intimate get togethers with your crew in a tiny working club Micro club, These rooms will be available for hire by the hour.

These are custom designed Micro venues for those who fancy something a little different rather then just another night out on the lash. We are offering tailored club experiences .You can hire it with a DJ playing your musical preferences, or you can have a go yourself, or with the help of an instructor who can walk you through the basics. There is also the ability to add additional elements to the package, Table service Staff, Photographer and Videographer who can edit the video footage as a digital keepsake. Perfect for a small party, hen night, birthday party or just something to experience with you friends, or for those who still don't feel fully confident going to a full on club.

When we were approached and asked to do an outdoor day party in Longton, as you can imagine, us old skoolers here at BITD couldn’t say no! We’ve shared so many special memories in this old town over 30 years ago now and feel it’s about time we relived some in the town that birthed rave culture for many of us.

We’ve enlisted the DJ services of some of the 90s best known party animals and connoisseurs in the shape of the mighty Alex P & Allister Whitehead alongside Longton’s most famous DJ son, Pete Bromley!

If that wasn’t enough we have DJ support from 2 of the cities most popular retro faces Bobs Disco & Darren Harvey which should give us the ingredients for a very special day and evening party at Aynsley Mill.

So many of us have had literal withdrawal symptoms from not being able to go on holiday (particularly Ibiza!) so the theme was chosen for us, hence heading straight for Alex & Allister who have played in Ibiza more times than most over the last 30+ years!
So get your dancing shoes out (and hopefully some sun lotion!) and we’ll see you on bank holiday Sunday May 1st!
