💥 A few from Saturday’s extremely cold 🥶 but very pretty recce of the rest of our 🎄Christmas Eve route. Lots of ice ❄️ about even if these pictures look sunny! Pleased to report all footpaths are open - the ground was firm on Saturday due to the temperature but be warned, there could be a few short but very muddy sections on the day if things warm up much between now and then. Half marathoners might get away with it but the marathoners might get wet feet 🤭 I’m sure you’ll agree it’ll be worth it though! Still time to sign up if you want a mince pie 🥧 and a medal 🏅 and to forever be a hero 🦸‍♀️ 🦸‍♂️

And Congratulations to our marathon winners Becca Hayden (setting a fine time for the ladies course record of 4.18 🥳) and Ted Munson! A very honourable mention also to Nick Genever, Nick and Ted were neck and neck over the whole route and Ted just pipped Nick over the last mile or so. The time for these two over the course was phenomenal, Ted’s time was 3.42 which is setting a very high standard as the now course record - it will take quite some beating in future! Well done to the three of you 🏆🎉👏🏻

First bit of tape in over 3 miles. Sorry guys, I don’t know when it was removed but it was put there late Friday afternoon and it’s gone today. Clearly quite a lot has been removed by someone (I’ve picked up a couple of torn ends they left behind). Not tamper proof I’m afraid 😞 sorry if you got lost

👋🏻 We still need a couple of volunteers to help out at the Fleam D**e Trail Marathon & Half on Saturday 17th September
⏱ If you can spare a few hours to help out we’d be very grateful (and so would our runners!)
🎖 Anyone volunteering for 6 hours or more will get an entry to one of our other races by way of thank you (marathon or half, or a discount for one of our further distances) as well as packed lunch 🥪 and snacks and our eternal gratitude! 🙏🏻
You don’t need to be a runner to help out - friends and family are most welcome and can pass their free run on to someone else of their choosing if they want to (sneaky gift 🎁 anyone? 😉)!

🌟Fen to Fell Route Recce🌟

Here’s a few snaps of some bits of the first 40 or so miles of our proposed Fen to Fell 100 mile route for next year. The first stretch - from Boston to Lincoln - is most definitely Fen in nature! Big wide skies, very flat and at times (part of the challenge) the path seems to go on forever!

We’re glad we took the time to check it out - a good mile or two of riverbank footpath had knee high grass and nettles (not ideal - see pics) and we will be in touch with Lincolnshire council to hopefully get this brought to their attention and rectified.

For those interested, this part of the route is mostly sealed footpath/cycleway and road, although there are some shorter off-road sections along the riverbank.

What do you all think 🤔 about a medal 🏅 based on this design for the Fleam D**e Trail Marathon and Half?

This is the waymark sign for most of the route. We think it’s a bit different and unique, but is it colourful enough?
