BTS: How do we get from white bunches of flowers to a full wedding? Well there are phases but the first is always processing. With so many stems you have to ensure your flowers are going to stay fresh so removing leaves, giving them a fresh cut and enough water. This starts on a Wednesday for a Saturday wedding, sometimes I have help, sometimes it’s just me. Some roses need to be warmer and in a bucket with enough room to make sure they open up optimally. Sometimes every ranunculus stem needs to get wired because their stems are too thin and narrow to hold up their head. Sometimes the Lisianthus comes in a little off and you have to pick through to make sure there’s no bad heads to make the whole batch go bad. So many little variables we are watching out for as a florist, I think there’s so much about wedding flowers and floral design that isn’t really shared or understood so here’s one little facet that maybe you didn’t know.
