REFINERY WORKER AND FAMILY MAN LOOKING TO TAKE HOME ELEVATE MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE
"My name is Frank Requena. I train out of Sammy’s Muay Thai in Spring, TX. "As a fighter I like to show that I’m there to fight. I work hard in all my camps to be able to let all out in the ring. I'm currently 6-1 but my goal in fighting is to reach my full potential. I want to eventually become a WBC Muay Thai champion along with becoming an Elevate champion. I want to make a name for myself in this fighting world."
He looks to get one step closer to his ultimate goal when he takes on Roy Moctezuma (1-0) on August 9th at Elevate Fight Night 4. The bout is for the EFC middleweight title and it's one Requena is looking forward to.
"I know we're both looking at taking home the belt so I know it's going to be good competition. I'm going to give it my all and take home that win. I would like to thank Sam and Jen for everything they’ve done for me to get this far, my fiancé Gabrielle for always supporting me in and out of camp, and my big brother Millie for helping me for each fight since he’s joined the family. PRE-FIGHT INTERVIEW WITH JAKE LIRA (135 lbs., ACS)
At 3-4 as an amateur, Jake Lira has accumulated his share of experience. He's won his last two fights in a row to accumulate momentum after some early bumps on the MMA road. Jake wants to win some titles but his motivation runs deeper than that.
"I"m a lifelong mixed martial artist," says Jake. He has a black belt karate background and has been training with Drew Raticheck, Nico Echeverry and crew for the past 9.5 years. "I got into MMA because I wanted to fight more than point fighting. I want to become an amateur champion and eventually go PRO but more than that, I want to inspire my kid with my effort. If I have the opportunity to fight in the UFC that would be a dream come true and I want to show hi, that if you work hard enough, you can accomplish what you want."
A conductor/switchman for Watco Rail by day, it's his MMA career that he's trying to keep on track on Aug. 9th at Elevate Fight Night 4.
Lira takes on "El Conquistador" Jose Cordova out of GB Woodlands, 2-0 so far as an amateur. It's a bout Lira doesn't take lightly, he's respectful yet confident of the challenge in front of him.
"My opponent is an accomplished and disciplined grappler with a no quit attitude from what I’ve seen in his previous fights," he says of Cordova. "I believe my advantage would be my ability to endure more punishment, and be patient in order to overtake the fight. I definitely must be aware of his speed and flexibility. My prediction is that we will go the distance. We'll see who's hand is raised in the end."

I have to thank my Coaches Drew and Nico for pushing me every day and my sparring partners for taking to hell in cage. To the Fans: thank you to all those who support me and come to see me fight. I’m a full time Dad, full time husband, full time fighter, and full time worker. I fight because I love to fight and through mma I have overcome a lot mentally. Hope you guys see that when I fight. PRE-FIGHT INTERVIEW WITH 185 LBS. CHAMPION NIAN BECK Tell us about yourself as a fighter and person. Who are you and what makes you tick? As a fighter? I'm looking for a way to expand upon the method. As the method has been working pretty well. As a person? I reckon I'm not really at liberty to say. I watched The Breakfast Club last night, though. So I guess you see me as you want to see me lolllllll. Olives piss me off. You had a pretty spectacular finish in earning that belt (R2 TKO vs. Tyler Thackson at Elevate Fighting Championship Amateur Series 6). Did that fight go exactly as you expected? Yes and no. I did what we planned, though I hoped for more from Tyler. What does it mean to defend that title? It means the foreword has concluded, and the prologue had begun. Your opponent Doug McFarland is pretty confident. Did you read his interview? Yes, I read it. I suppose he needs to feel the madness to understand the method. And it's my responsibility to ensure his comprehension. How do you expect this fight to go and what can we expect from you in the future? I'm learning not to expect anything anymore, as I've been left disappointed as of late. Nonetheless, he's an above average athlete, so it should be quite an enjoyable time. And as of what to expect from me? Don't, I'll exceed them every time. Any last words, anybody you want to thank etc before the fight? I'd like to thank Oscar Secada, John Stelly, Devon sparks, Warren Smith, and my training partners. They've gifted me all that I have amalgamated into what you see today.
