Trivia Night w/ Big Joe
Complete League Rules
Welcome to the official Trivia Night w/ Big Joe Spring 2023 League rules and regulations. We are excited to offer this additional layer of fun and competition to your week and truly hope you will all have a great time with it, as we wish to make it a regular event!
The Spring League will run from May 1 through June 21, 2023, and will be based on an aggregate of your team’s 7 weekly scores recorded at all live entertainment knowledge trivia shows. We will add all league scores, from all 7 weeks (see below league points break down). Each week during regular league play there will be 1st ($25) and 2nd ($10) place prizes. At the end of 7 weeks, on the 8th week there will be a bowl game. The top 4 leagues from each bar will meet at the pre-determined host bar for a chance to win $100.00 prize and vender swag.
Team Size:
1. When registering, teams may include up to 6 regular players, and 2 alternates as their team “roster”. You are not required to have a full roster at each show. Teams that come all 7 weeks for league play will get 20 BOUNUS points at the bowl. The registration period will close at midnight on May 1, 2023.
2. During regular trivia play, teams are allowed to have as many as 6 players, and the entire roster is not required to be present for your score to count. As long as at least one member of the team roster is present, and you use the team name you registered under, the score will count towards league play.
3. You will not be allowed to divide your team and play at two venues on the same night of the week under the same team name.
4. When it comes time for the Bowl Game, teams will be limited to 6 players, starting with the 6 primary team members that are registered, moving on to the 2 alternates, if any of the main players have a scheduling conflict. This is only to prohibit teams from bringing in their “cousin Jen Kennings from Seattle” to play in the tournament, when they have never played with them during league play.
Game Play:
1. Each weekly event will consist of three(3) rounds with five(5) questions per round and 3-4 minute time limit to answer.
2. Each round will have a tie breaker question, for a total of six(6) question each round. This question will be allotted additional time that will vary depending on number of answers required.
3. Tie breaker question points will be determined by the number of correct answers given for the question. i.e. if there are 10 possible answers and your team gets 7 answers correct then your team wins 7 points.
4. Teams can only enter the number of answers allotted for the tie breaker question. i.e. if 6 answers are allotted then no more than 6 answers can be turned in. if 7 or more answers are turned in that team forfeits any points for that question. However teams may turn in less than the allotted number of answers.
5. Each round will be followed by a ten minute break.
6. Round #1: Music, Round #2 Movies , Round #3: Sport
7. The game host will endeavor to be accurate and all scores are FINAL!
8. No electronic devices, i.e: phones, tablets AND smartwatches. Cheating will result in the forfeiture of any prizes.
9. Written Answers ONLY. NO shouting answers out loud.
10. Answers submitted after the allotted time will NOT count towards your team.
11. Once a team submits an answer, that answer is final.
12. Only legible answers will be accepted. Spelling DOES NOT count unless specifically indicated.
13. League members may attend ONLY one (1) event per week and only at their registered bar.
